While on my "SHULER" quest, I've come across the above named twins, Everett & Evan, who are the sons (and only children) of Martin Banes SHULER & Josephine Wilson SHULER. The twins were born on October 14, 1879, in Daviess Co., Missouri (probably Sheridan). Martin probably was in one of the Oklahoma "Runs" because he is living in Broken Arrow, Tulsa Co., Okla in 1910. He was a blacksmith by trade. His son, Evan, is living with him. Evan married Lula May Dobson on June 1, 1910 in Tulsa Co. Everett married Maude M. Scott c. 1901 in probably Noble, Cleveland Co., Okla, since that is where her family was. Have not found a record of that marriage though. By 1910, Everett and his family were living in Dora, Roosevelt Co., New Mexico (where he purchased land in 1913). They had 4 children: May/Mae; Edwin S.; Nadine; & Sir Maud/Maul (a boy - what a name!). All four children were living with their maternal grandparents (Wm. J. & Christine C. Scott) in the 1920 & 1930 censuses. No Everett or Maude around, so they must have died prior to 1920. The other twin, Evan, lived in Broken Arrow, Okla. In 1920, his wife & newborn child died in February and are buried (along with another infant son) in the Park Grove Cemetery, Broken Arrow. Evan may have been so struck with grief and overwhelmed that lost his mind (so to speak) since I then found him as a patient in the Eastern Oklahoma State Hospital in Vinita, Okla. His four children: Nadine, Francis, Naomi & Richard were wards of the state at the Carmen IOOF Home in Carmen, Alfalfa Co., Okla in 1930.
It appears some heartbreaking times descended upon the SHULER twins - I'd like to locate living relatives from Evan & Everett and any other bits of information that can be gleaned regarding this family. Thank you!
