My grandmother is research her family history and has run across some confusion in the Shumate family. Follow me here....John the son Jean de La Chaemette had a son John III. The question is, did he have a son named Armistead (or Amistaed?) who may have had a son named Mason (or George) who had a son named Toliver? If anyone has any information along these lines, I would very much appreciate the info.
