Have had company.
I did look at my family sheets and did not come up with a sister to Adam with the family name you are looking for. Will send you what I have but it doesn't mean there aren't corrections to be made.
Catch you in a bit.
Dale

Paul, sorry to say I have almost no information on this individual. I know Edison was one of four children, they were: Kirby, born 21 Aug. 1885; Rosanna, born 20 Dec. 1887; edison, 1889; and Hazel L. Shupe, 29 Aug. 1891. Their parents were: Simon [1842-1914] & Clarissa (Valentine)[1848-1931] Shupe. I have a photo of Simon & Clarissa's memorial stone, from Amanda Twp. Cem.
Simon is a son of John J. & Susan (Dysinger) Shupe.
Simon had 11 siblings. I would be interested in learning the names of Edison's wife and children/grandchildren. Best regards. Robert

This Samuel Shupe was given his land grants due to his service in the Texas Army during the Battle of San Jacinto.

Samuel's name is on the monument at San Jacinto, engraved on the wall containing the names of all the participants.

There is a short paragraph about him in the book "Heroes of San Jacinto" (title could be a little different). I found that book in the library at SFASU back in the early 80's.

If you can prove you are a direct descendant, you are eligible to be a member of the "Sons (or Daughters) of Texas".

I am related to a Solomon Shupe of PA, born in 1792 or 1794 (I forget which) in the same county as Samuel. I'd love to prove they were brothers, but have been unable to do so.

I need to get serious about my genealogy, before the older generation passes away.

Shupe's in Nova Scotia

My family is related to the Shupe's in Nova Scotia, perhaps New Brunswick also. Isaiah Shupe m. to Amelia Taylor -- daughter Devilla Shupe ( my gr grandmother) Worked as a servant in two (at least) homes. (Phinney's and McLeod's) Believe she had children during this time, before she married. Alphonas Shupe and Florence Marjorie were pre-marriage. Any info.would be lovely. Isaiah's parents were George and Rebecca Shupe. Amelia's (she died rather young) parents were William and Mary Ann, I believe. Thanks

Dear Mr. Townsend:

I hope you're still participating in this message board, as the date on the message I'm referencing is quite old. I'm trying to get information on my ancestor, Isaac Shoop (may have been Shupe, Schup, Schupp or Schaub). Isaac married Annie Nancy Barnes, reportedly a Cherokee Indian, in the late 1700s. This occurred in SC, but by the next generation they were in Western NC.

Have you any information on Isaac, Annie, their ancestors, or their descendents?

Thank you so much.

Jean Darnall
jdarnall@ix.netcom.com
Hi Suzanne,

Lauren A. Shupe's first wife had the last name of Singleton. They had one son that they named James Ross Shupe, who is my father from his first marriage (Carol Morris). If you're who I think you are, James Ross was your father and your mother's name is Linda.
Anyway, all I know is that her last name was Singleton and James had told me that she was hard-drinking and a free-spirit that had run off from Lauren. Lauren later married Sarah Armbreuster.

I am tracing Adam Shupe and a possible sister Magdalena who emigrated to southern Ontario from Dauphin or Lancaster PA in the early 1800s. I am a descendent of Magdalena, who married a John Goebel (Gabel) in Waterloo, Ontario. Their daughter Lydia married William Bossenberger, and both are buried in Zurich, Ontario, while Magdalena may be at the Blennheim Mennonite cemetery.

Thank you for your attention.
Roy Keys
Re: 1st Shupe to come to America

I received the following from Janet Warter, jkwarter@socal.rr.com, who is a serious genealogist. The first Shupe to US was Jacob Shoup b.1714 d. 1766 who was married to Veronica Sheibler. They had 3 children, Veronica, John and Michael. Michael b.1764 d.1810 married Maria Eva ?. They produced William b.1799 d.1868. This is my line of Shupes. I think that Jacob and Veronica came to U.S. in 1748 but you should check that with Janet. The person who put me in touch with Janet Warter was David Shupe in Minnesota who, I think, does serious genealogical research on the family line of John, son of Jacob and Veronica. David's address is david@elumen.info. If you want to correspond further, please send me your email address.
