Eric,

Thank you for writing. If your grandfather Shurley died around 1989 and his wife was named Ruth, then we are definitely cousins. I finished work on my book last year on the Archibald Barron family that has been published on CD for ease of reading and mailing. If your data matches up then Archibald would be your 6th great granfather. I would be pleased to provide you a disk and would love to learn more about your branch of the family.

Please write me directly at g_pearce@bellsouth.net.

Greg Pearce

I believe that I have found him (see below). I am only 43, and all I have is my dads fathers name. Emmit Soleman Shurley. My dads name is Virgil Ray Shurley. He is still alive and lives in Jonesboro. I live in Michigan. My father knows so very little about his side of the family, Emmit married Ruth Shurley. My father was from somewhere in Truman, he went to school in Truman. If you know even alittle info please email me back. Sherriekay527@aol.com Thank You.

Dear Mr. Shurley,
I saw your message concerning your inquiry on Richard H. Shurley. Knowing your ancestor came from Crawford County, GA, I am sure we have common ancestral ties. For more information on the Shurley lineage and would recommend that you check out Jim Shurley's family tree. The address is http://www. familytreemaker.lcom/users/s/h/u/Jim-E-Shurley/GENEl-000l.html
Jim Shurley has done a thorough investigation and he will repsond to your inquires. My paternal grandmother was Ara Taylor Shirley who was born Aug. 4, 1875 in Lincoln County, Miss. but married Homer Clifton Shurley in Fairfield, Tx. (Freestone COunty) in Aug. 4, 1894.I hope you find this helpful in your genealogical research. It is too much of a coincidence that your Shurley ancestor is from GA.
Many of Shurley/Shirley relatives live in Texas, LA. and Miss. Good luck, Homer Shirley

Re: Richard Shurley

Thanks for your query, but I am afraid I cannot connect with your George Robert Shurley, of Macon, GA,
but then I cannot rule it entirely out, either. My Richard H. Shurley, my GrGrandfather, was born i April
1821 in Knoxville, Crawford Co. GA, and I have no clue as to whom his parents were. Perhaps he was
an orphan adoptee. There are some circumstances that might link him as a descendant of a William
Stubley Shurley, Sr., who was born in Ireland in 1732, and emigrated to Virginia in 1752, had a large
family, and immigrated to Washington or Jones Co GA, before the Revolutionary War. But no positive
links, nor any other. Why I was searching, in GA. Job Taylor Shurley, my grandfather, was born in
GA, FL, or AL (Salem, Lee Co?) 16 Aug.,1859. Richard and most family immigrated to Texas about
1876, and died there in 1902, leaving a large descendancy. I have personally searched the Macon
Genealogical Library - a treasure! for traces of my Richard, with no findings.. E-mail follows. Jay.
