SHWARTZ Phyllis H. Shwartz, age 90, passed away on May 22, 2012. She was born in Akron, Ohio (Summit County) on June 19, 1921.
Phyllis shared her life with her late husband Myron.
After starting a family in Fairborn, Ohio they moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1964.
She graduated from the Ohio State University and received her Master's degree in Political Science and Women's Studies.
Phyllis and Myron also had many close friends and were actively involved in the community.
Phyllis dedicated countless hours to organizations advocating for women's rights including Planned Parenthood, League of Women Voters, National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) and National Council of Jewish Women.
She worked side by side with Myron in assorted businesses from photography to furniture and was well known on campus for opening the Bazaar, a gift store that sold international items that they collected on their travels around the world.
Phyllis is predeced in death by her husband Myron Shwartz, daughter Stephanie Saltzman and brother James Kotzen.
She is survived by daughter, Lynnette (Daniel) Goldberg; grandchildren, Marya (Jim) Cassandra, Alissa (Jonathan) Holfinger, Ashley Saltzman and Adam Saltzman; four great-grandchildren; niece, Francine (Jerry) Jacobs; as well as many members of the extended family.
Memorial service 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25 at EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main St. Columbus, Ohio with Rabbi Howard Apothaker officiating.
The family will receive friends at her home on Friday from 2-6 p.m.
