Hi Wayne, Did you happen to find out who James B Sibert's parents were, the husband of the women in this post? I am looking for Frederick (1784-1862) and his wife Margaret Acherman Sibert's descendants. I know for sure they had a son Isaac who was married to Rebecca. Margaret was still alive in the 1880 census living with Rebecca. Frederick was the son of Isaac and Hannah Sibert and the grandson of Hans Bernard and Elizabeth Jager Seibert.

I am looking for Siberts in this same area, Frederick Sibert 1784-1864 was married to Margaret Acherman. She was still alive in 1880 with daughter in law Rebecca Sibert, wife of Isaac. Frederick was the son of Isaac and Hannah Sibert living in Shenandoah and Frederick Co'c. Va.

I'm sure that's them. The Crim's were more associated with Rockingham County, but the Moore's(and Sibert's) I've seen were from New Market area. They're probably related somehow. I was just wondering if it was your line. Thanks.

To my knowledge I am not although there is a William Sibert buried in a cementery at New Market,Va. I have not been able to make a con˜ection to him. This William lived from 1823-1824 and his wife was Elizabeth Ann.

I would very much like to know where the immigrant Sibert/Siebert came from and where New Market, VA is in relation to Staunton. I will hunt up the photo I have of Gertrude Sibert Leyendecker and send it by e-mail attachment if you like. I think it is fun to compare facial features of our ancestors.

Thank you for your reply! I am sure of the fact that a Joseph R. Sibert is buried at the Luth. Ref. Church at New Market, Va. He had a son named
Robert J. born abt. 1822 aand a daughter named Elizabeht Ann born abt 1829. Their grandmother Mary Ann Sibert (1771-1834) is buried at New Market also.She was my gggg grandfather. I am trying to locate the burial place for her husband Francis Sibert (1760-1850) but have not had any luck. His father was Frederick Sibert.

There is a very old book titled The Siberts of Saarland. I could not make a connection between Robert James and Clarinda and this Sibert group but at the time, I was probably missing one or two generations. Do you know if YOUR Siberts belong to this group?

Hi - Yes, indeed, Robert James married Clintonia Bacon Samuel McDonald, who is my g.g.grandmother. She was married previously to John Stewart McDonald (my g.g.grandfather). R. J. & Clint had children but unfortunately the only one I ever met was my Aunt Gertrude Sibert Leyendecker. I remember sitting on the front porch of her home in Laredo Texas with she and Uncle Mike Leyendecker. Small world, huh? Will exchange.

My connection to Robert James Sibert is that he married my g.g.grandmother, a young widow, in Texas shortly before the Civil War. R. J. had kin also in TX and in fact his sister, Clarinda Sibert Newton, was how I located his potential birthplace (VA). Also, Mr. Sibert's stepson, John S. McDonald, Jr., attended a school in Staunton, VA run by a Mr. Hoover.

The father of Joseph Sibert was my gggg grandfather Charles Francis Sibert.I have a list of all the children of Joseph Sibert if you are interested please contact me. Have you heard from the person who posted the reference to Robert J. Sibert. I guess maybe we are distant cousins.
Joseph Sibert's brother Lorenzo was my ggg grandfather. Please let me know if you any other info on the Siberts.

My g.g.grandparents were John Stewart McDonald and Clintonia Bacon Samuel. JSM was killed in San Antonio in 1856. Clint McDonald remarried to Robert James Sibert in 1861 (working from memory here). I think (but do not know) that RJS may have been married earlier and he had two children - Mary Sibert Peters and Robert J. Sibert, Jr. RJS and CMS had Gertrude and two stillborn sons who are mentioned in the records (burial) of Christ Church in San Antonio. Gertrude Sibert Leyendecker's descendants live in Laredo, TX. I have tried to track Mary Sibert who married Timothy Peters in San Antonio. Timothy was Belgian and I find them in the census there up to 1920 (again from memory). I was in Staunton earlier this year but did not know where to look for Siberts unfortunately.

As far as I know, I have no relationship to Elizabeth Sibert. I simply found an 1874 clipping in an old book, "Edwards on Redemption", that had belonged to my mother. It has the obituaries of a John Pray, Elizabeth Sibert, Mrs Ann M. Sherrard, and Mrs. Mattie Rubush, I have posted on all of those Forums, and yours is the only response. If you would like the clipping for your mementos, and will give me your address, I will be glad to send it to you.

I just reread my info on the Siberts and it appears that your Henry may have married Hannah Stine, who I believe was a sister of my Susannah Stine that married Jacob. Both were married in Loraine Co. OH. I have some info on the Stines, but I don't remember that we have communicated on that part of the line. Willing to share info?

John and Catherine are buried in the Old Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, IN (DeKalb County). I think that I may have photographed the grave markers, but I know that Mike Bodenhafer has posted that he has digital photgraphs. (Mine are 35 mm if I can find them). I am connected through son Jackob (Jacob) who married Susannah Stine. I would be happy to share info, and would be delighted if you could get all of us past the John and Catherine brick wall!

Harwood Craig Sibert ~ death certificate

I have his death certificate if anyone is interested. The cause of death was Lobular Pneumonia, secondary Influenza.

It states his father is Thomas Sibert born in Indiana. His mother is Hannah Moore born in Ohio. That is incorrect, for his mother's maiden name is Garrison.

SOLDIER BOY DIES

Harwood Craig Sibert died at Louisville, Ky., Friday, January 24, 1919. He was born April 24, 1887 and was therefore 31 years and 9 months of age. Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Hannah Sibert, and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Crooks and Mrs. Guy Walker, his father, the late Thomas Sibert, having preceded him in death.
The funeral occurred at Trinity M. E. church of which he was a member, at Rockport, on Sunday, January 27, at 2 o'clock p.m., conducted by Rev. M. O. Robbins and Rockport lodge F. & A. M., followed by a short service at Shiloh church and interment in that cemetery.
Thus another tragedy in the great world war in the interest of humanity has been enacted and brought to a close the life of one of the community's most respected and best loved young men.
Harwood was a graduate of the Rockport high school of the class of 1906. He was a young man who enjoyed the confidence of the community and who manifested especial interest in public affairs. He was at the time of his death, president of the library board.
He possessed exceptional business qualifications, was trustworthy and of unquestionable integrity. He was called in defense of his country six months ago and faithfully discharged his duty as an American soldier.
His home life was most exemplary. He kept up a most companionable relationship with his family and most especially with his aged mother.
The throng of people who attended the services, together with the floral tributes was an evidence of the esteem in which he was held, being one of the largest funerals in the history of the county. An unusual and impressive feature was the pall bearers, all being Masons and regularly and honorably discharged soldiers in their uniform.

"Geraldine Virginia Crisman Sibert, 84, of Woodstock, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at her home. Mrs. Sibert was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Fort Valley, daughter of the late Clarence E. and Frances 'Fanny' Walker Crisman. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Woodstock, serving as church sexton for 40 years and on the maintenance committtee. She was the wife of the late James B. Sibert.
Surviving are seven sons, James R. Sibert of New York, Thomas Lee Sibert of Maryland, William Lynn Sibert of Maurertown, Gary Allen Sibert of Tampa, FL, Gerald Edward Sibert of Mount Jackson, Charles Joseph Sibert and Michael Glenn Sibert, both of Woodstock; a sister, Elizabeth Cecil of Mechanicsville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was conducted Monday, Nov. 28, at Massahutten Cemetery in Woodstock by the Revs. Everett Burner and Daniel Kasten. Saw your message. William Luther Sibert was my great great grandfather. Key Engineer on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal (McCullough's Path Between the Seas), Alabama State Dock's architect, Commander of Big Red One before Pershing in WWI Europe, created Chemical Warfare School (after WWI), Use google.com and search on William Luther Sibert!

His son, Franklin C. Sibert was one of McCarthur's Corps commanders in the Phillipines.

I am trying to find Elizabeth A. Sibert's family and who she married. There was a David Lance in Harrison county , Ind. that married an Elizabeth A. Sebard,( maybe spelled wrong)in 1832 and had my ggrandfather. Hope this is the right family.

Yes. Henry is. I have found these same children in 1850 living with other familys. Henry was with Henry Davis of Harrison, but I could never tie them together. Now I can, but would like to know the story behind them being farmed out.

I found a reference to Robert J. Sibert of Shenandoah Valley, VA, son of Joseph Sibert. This information was posted by "sanlden@worldnet.att.net." However, that e-dress no longer works. I am hopeful that the person who put the info there in 2001 will contact me. Robert James Siebert/Sibert married my g.g.grandmother (a widow) in Bexar County, TX. I know this is the same person because another individual in the file - Clarinda Sibert Newton - was his sister and she also lived in San Antonio, TX. Thanks.

New Market is about 55 miles north of Staunton, Va. What is the ancestry of Gertrude Sibert. I appreciate your reply and would like to see picture of Gertrude. If I remember correctly you said Robert J. Sibert married your g.g.grandmother. I asume that there were no other children from that marriage beside her son John S. McDonald,Jr.
