so exciting!! my late aunt Lee, Vera's daughter, got the family tree from a cousin in UK (not sure who, but maybe it was your uncle?). This cousin apparently also did a lot of groundwork, visiting the churches etc. I managed to get a copy of it. Its about 5 feet in width and 2 feet in length.
if you want to email: gaylh@iafrica.com and we can share and communicate if you like.
warmest regards.
gayl
Yes we are!

My father is John Michael Huxley Sibley, his father Huxley John Francis Sibley (1920-1998) and his father John Huxley Sibley (1889-1969), who was the son of John Francis Huxley Sibley and Alice Mary Goldsmith.

SO, Vera would have been my Great Great Aunt!

My Uncle, Peter Sibley, began working on our family tree over 20 years ago and has actually seen many of the records that I've only seen digitised on the internet. He also did much good ol' fashioned leg work, visiting churches and looking at records and managed to find a Simon Siblet he beleives we are related to from 1395!

A few of the details we have differ slightly... for example Huxley Sibley born 12/8/1771 I have as being married four times... though I am just going on what my uncle wrote down for me... I really need to get him on the internet to help me tidy the tree up.

My tree is public:

http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/1967696/family/pedigree#ped...

so hopefully you should be able to see it and it may be of some help - though it sounds like you have more details than me!

Many Thanks

Hi, my direct line goes back to
Thomas Huxley of brindley, cheshire born 1480 married to Eva. His son was Thomas (James)born 1511 married to Mauld. Their son was George born 1536 married to Emma. The name, Huxley Sibley, started when Sarah Huxley, daughter of William Huxley born around 1698 and Mary, married Henry Sibley in 1753. Their son Huxley Sibley born 12/8/1771 who married Sarah Lattimore and then Mary Hampton. Huxley and Sarah's son, Francis Sibley born 1802 married Anne Beasley and their son was John Francis Huxley Sibley who married Hannah Wood Clarke. Their son John Francis Huxley Sibley married Alice Mary Goldsimith and their daughter Vera Florence Sibley was my Grandmother. Are we related?

Hello,

Thank You for the reply. I will try to find the book you mentioned for George Washington Sibley, and Lurinda Raner. I am hoping to locate the cemetery they are buried in, and an obit of Lurinda Raner Sibley. I am a descendant of Lurinda Raner's sister. I am researching Lurinda Raner's siblings, so far 3 of the eleven have been confirmed. And I am also researching their parents, Joshua Raner & Hannah Vangilder. There are quite a few Vangilders's, very few Raner's though.

Debbie Freeman

I do not know about your David, but wonder if he might be an ancestor of my Robert. Sarah Upjohn Sibley b. 1820, Robert Sibley b. 1821, Emma Elizabeth Sibley b. 1824, and Charles Sibley b. 1829 (my gg grandfather) were the children of Robert and Elizabeth Sibley. Sarah was christened in St. Luke, Finsbury, London; the other three were christened in Shoreditch, St. Leonard, London. Robert's profession at the time of Sarah's christening was shopkeeper; when Charles was christened he was a tea dealer. Although the children were christened in Church of England churches (which I undertand was customary for legal "registration"), the family were Baptists. I have done some successful research on the children but have found nothing more for the parents. It would be thrilling to find that there are tied in with your line. My fingers are crossed!
Hi,
I'm researching my family genealogy and history. In the book, "A Place Called Due West," Lowry Ware cites a story about two of my ancestors, Sam Haddon and Sambo Haddon "...who once belonged to R.W. Haddon..." From my research, R.W. appears to be Robert Warren Haddon and I would really like to know more about him, Sara Anne Crawford Haddon and his family because I'm trying to find out more about Sam and Sambo Haddon. I would appreciate any information you may have about them, in the hope that I can figure out who Sambo Haddon's ancestors are. Thanks! nbbyrd

I don't know if there is any connection but I guess this is a stab in the dark too

I have a Percy S SIBLEY that I belive (not confirmed as yet) married an Ethel ELPHICK (born in 1888 in Camberwell) in 1915 in Brighton (this is where she was from and it was quite common for couples to get married in the bride's district)

I also have another ELPHICK (Madeline Lily) that was married to a Walter William GREEN - he was from Watford, Herts. They were also married in Sussex. I believe Madeline and Ethel to be half sisters (both had the same father - Frederick Victor ELPHICK)

Once Madeline and Walter were married they moved to Watford (Bushey) and had at least two children, Joyce Marjorie (b 1920) and Leslie Frank (b 1923). Joyce married a Stuart CAIRNS and remained in the same area until her death in 2000

Robert SIBLEY kindred in Franklin Co AL

Need to locate primary sources to confirm the children of (Robert?) SIBLEY and wife Elizabeth b abt 1783 NC, living in TN prior to moving to north AL (Franklin Co) 1814-1818. It is generally accepted via professional publishings that the children are Sabrina, Thomas Tanner, Mahaly, Elizabeth, Caroline C. and John, possibly others. Is anyone aware of a family Bible, probate record for Elizabeth, or other primary source which can confirm these children's names?
Thank you.
