I'm posting below a list of census records that I have found for the Sibole/Sibold/Sybold/etc family that originated in Hampshire Co VA (now W VA). James Seybold born 1750, married in 1774, was a son of Jasper Seybold. I suspect that this James was the first to adopt the "Sibole" spelling, I believe he is listed in the 1810 census in VA. There are several possible sons of James, including: Henry, Jacob, Ichabod, James and, perhaps, Joseph. It was difficult to find their census records because of the frequent misspelling of the name. Hope to hear from other Sibole/Sibold family researchers, and hope to determine if these were all sons of James[b.1750]. I have detailed info for each of these listings so please contact me if this rings a bell for you!

1810 Census: James Sibole age >45 Hampshire,Virginia
Female older than 45, 1 boy < 10, 2 boys between 16-25, no daughters
(note: Jasper's son James would have been 60 years old in 1810. The 2 boys between 16-25 might be James and Ichabod who both show up in the census records for the first time in 1820. The boy < 10 might be the Joseph Sibole, born 1808?)

(Note: the accuracy of the age 103 is very questionable!)

Jacob Sibole born about 1780 in Virginia
1810 Census: Jacob Sibole, 26-45 Hampshire, VA
1820 Census: missing
1830 Census: Jacob Sybole, 40-50 Hampshire, VA
1840 Census: Jacob Sibole, 60-70 Hampshire, VA
1850 Census: Jacob Sibole 70 b.1779 Virginia District 24, Hampshire, VA (living in household of 30 yr old Esquire Sibole. (Other households in 1850 are: 43 yr old Jacob with sons James and Jacob, 16 and 10. 40 year old James Sibole with 2 young children, 35 yr old Jun Sibole with 2 young daughters.) Jacob probably died before 1860 - the James and Esquire families are still in Hampshire VA in the 1860 Census, but no Jacob.
(There is a Dale Sibole on the GeneaNet database who shows James[1750] as the father of Jacob[1780] but no details nor dates)

Note: Anne Sibole wrote: "Interested in all SIBOLES in Berkeley Co as well as Morgan and Hampshire Co. Ichabod Sibole married Sally BEACH 1813 - both of Loudoun Co VA and they first appear in Berkeley Co in 1814. Both die there, Ichabod in 1875 and Mary before 1855... Especially interested in last 2 children of Ichabod: Mary and John born about 1833 and 1834 in Gerrardstown. Presley, Ichabod's older son b 1816 married Elizabeth HIGGINS 1838."
