Looking for information via E-mail on Caroline Sick who was married to Perry Oler in the 1800's & had 2 children. The first died the second was my Great Grandmother Ella Estella Oler. I was told that my GGM was deaf. I do not know if this was from birth or not. I have not been able to find anything at all about when or where she was born or when & where she got married. All Information will be appreciated and all E-mails will be answered . Thanks Jim

Sick Surname

About the only thing I know about my ancestors is what has been passed down through the generations. The story goes that seven brothers escaped Germany as stowaways on a ship, hiding in pickle barrels. They escaped to America for religous freedom. Once in America, they spread out to various states. My direct decendants settled in Sandusky,Ohio. I have an old Sandusky City Register from 1855 that lists Frederick Sick as a store keeper. I believe he was a second generation US born Sick. The thing is, my folks have a Genaelogy report that states about five different names the brothers may have had and shortened or altered uppon their arrival to the States. They also list several areas of Germany that they may have come from. Although the word in my family is that they came from the Black Forrest area of Germany. The report also displayed a family crest that is known to have been related to the Sick surname.
Sick is a very uncommon name and I would think that most of us that have it are in some way related. If anyone has any similar info and would like to share info and stories, please feel free to E-mail at msick@cinci.rr.com
