Glad to hear from you. Your information
corresponds with what I have. My wife's
grandmother was Anna Siemon, who married
Bernard (Ben) Kohls. Anna's mother was
Magdalena (Lena) Heck and her grandfather
was Johann (John) Heck.
Johann (John) Heck.
Here are some details you may not have:
John Heck was born in Britten, Merzig
Germany, near Trier, on 5Mar1822. He
arrived in New York from Antwerp on
12Sep1846 on board the ship Conte Zichi.
He was accompanied to America by his father,
Ernst (Ernest) and siblings Joseph, Peter,
and Maria and by Margarethe Jacobs Heck,
who could have been Ernst's second wife.
The family settled initially in Madison, IN
where I found John's Declaration of Intent
for citizenship in yhe county court records.
Subsequently Ernst moved to White Oak,OH. John
then moved to Campbell County, KY.
The Heck family genealogy is well documented
back to the early 1700's. Most of the info
I have came from my wife's cousin, but you can
find much of it on the FamilySearch.org
website.
Do you use Family Tree Maker or a similar program?
If so I cam send you a computer file with all of
the information I have.
Lastly, do you have any information on our Siemon
or Kohls lines? My goal is to trace each of our
our immigrant ancestors back to their birthplaces
in Europe. I will be glad to share what I know
Regards,
Dan Wedig
