Port Wentworth - Mrs. Eudine Auld Rowan Sigler, 96, died peacefully at home on December 6, 2004 surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice Savannah. She was born in Vidalia, Georgia, on November 23, 1908, and moved to Port Wentworth in 1917. She was the daughter of the late James Jonathan Auld and Jimmie Dixon Auld. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon C. Sigler; sister, Margaret and brothers, Cyril, Jack and Jimmy Auld. She was a dedicated Christian and an active member of Port Wentworth Alliance Church where she taught the Youth Sunday School Department for many years. She retired after a long career with the Port Wentworth Corporation and Central of Georgia Railroad, but continued to work for many years past normal retirement age in several positions. She had an avid interest in the history of Port Wentworth and the plantations on the Savannah River and collected many pictures, maps and historic mementos of t hat area datingback to the early 1900's. She is survived by one son, Robert E. (Betty) Rowan, Sr., of Savannah; one daughter, Jane R. Nichols of Bluffton, SC; two grandsons, Bobby (Linda) Rowan of Savannah and Jim (Lynn) Rowan of Reidsville; two granddaughters, Beth Rowan Koobs of Woodland, CA and Rebecca Rowan (Bob) Christian of Savannah and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Highway 80, Pooler, from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday night and the funeral will be at the Port Wentworth Alliance Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2004. Interment will be at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
