Hi Chris,

If you contact me via email, I'll send you a genealogy report for this family (kathryn.holmes@optusnet.com.au).

But, in reference to your queries, I also have no info on Samuel & Emma's arrival in Australia, or on John's death. But For Hannah I have her death as 16/7/1924 in Cheltenham, Victoria and another sibling Maria, born 1856 (there were 7 known children to Samuel & Emma Sidaway).

Do you have info on Samuel's (b 1810) death in Melb and on his son Samuel's (b 1838) immig in 1870?

Kathy

Kathy,

Just found your message. Hope you read this or if someone else can help me.
I too am a descendent of Samuel (b. 1781), he is my gx4 grandfather & Meria is my gx4 grandmother. I have been struggling to find the emigration details for Samuel (b. 1810) and his wife Emma Round Sidaway and some of their children. I know their son Samuel (b. 1838) and his wife Betsy Swatman emigrated to Australia in 1870 with their older children, and I know that Samuel (b. 1810) and Emma died in Melbourne, as did at least 3 of their children Emma Maria, Anna Maria and Benjamin Samuel (+ Samuel). I cannot did any details for John (b. 1842 Dudley) and Hannah (b. 1840 Dudley).

Chris

Hello,

Passenger lists are gathered at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/chester/immig.htm
I didn't see a Robinette there though.

Here are some resources you may want to check out if you haven't seen them already:

Book: Allen Robinett and his descendants in America.
http://hometown.aol.com/robinettfa/page3.html
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/ROBINETT/2002-03/101706...

Ancestry online search of passenger lists (I think you have to have a subscription). I searched and found 3 entries in the passenger list section for Allen Robinette. It basically leads you to a reference resource, doesn't tell me the ship name.

Here's the reference:
Gale Research. Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: The Generations Network, Inc., 2006. Original data: Filby, P. William, ed.. Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s. Farmington Hills, MI, USA: Gale Research, 2006.

A site I found, not sure if helpful:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/e/l/Claude-E-We...

Good luck!

Hi..
I'm not sure if I can help at all. I'm trying to research my family on here. My email address is kristyplasterer@yahoo.com. I know that my great great grandfather... John Simcox married Sarah (?). they had a total of 5 children. in 1911, they came to the US via Ellis Island. Only john, sarah and 3 of their boys (john, sam, and william) came to the US because 2 others had died. I know that they lived in England. my family tells me West Bromwich but their immigration paperwork says Chesterfield. I'm not sure which. I know that John (the dad) was 37 years old when he came to the US in 1911 and he died in 1941.
Please email me if you can.. Thanks..

Can anyone identify this picture? Cleveland 1922?

Is there anyone that can identify the people in this picture? I think that the baby crawling in the background is my grandfather, so that would put this picture as being taken in 1922. I'm pretty sure the location is in Cleveland, Ohio.
It is possible that the man could be my gr-gr-grandfather George Simcox Hopkins, who died in 1923, but we have no known photo of him and no one I know knows what he looks like. His mother was Clara Simcox.
I don't know who the blond baby is either.
It is entirely possible that neither of these people are a Simcox or even related to the Simcox family. I was hoping that maybe a very distant relative might be able to identify either of these people. (I know it is unlikely.)

I can't help directly. But my family tree traces back to William Symcock of West Bromwich (b.1495), via other notables such as John Simcox (b.1628) Churchwarden of W. Bromwich, and his son George Simcox (m.23.4.1668) also Churchwarden of W. Bromwich, and William Simcox (b. 1671 in W. Brom) who married Mary Tomlinson of W. Brom on 9.7.1696. You can find them on www.familysearch.org
The Simcoxes were pretty big in West Bromwich, so I'm sure your John Simcox must be related somehow.

John Simcox, son of Shadrick

By 1798, Shadrick was living in Cross Creek township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he is listed in the tax list and is taxed for 400 acres. He is enumerated in the 1800 census of that township. By February 1806, Shadrick had moved to Venango County, Pennsylvania, when he received a grant of personal property from Robert Jones. It is not known exactly when, between 1800 and 1806, that he made the move from Washington County to Venango County. However, as John was born about 1800 and Shadrick was in the 1800 census of Washington County, I have used Washington County as the birthplace of John.
Samuel Simcox, born England

I do not have any information specifically on Samuel. However, it might be helpful to know that England started civil registration of births, marriages and deaths in July 1837. There are country-wide quarterly indexes to these records.

Therefore, with a little effort and persistance, it should be possible to find his marriage record. From the marriage record, you will learn the names of the father of groom and bride and the specific location where the marriage took place, a crucial element in furthering research.

The quarterly indexes are available on microfilm and microfiche through Family History Centers, if you want to search them yourself. Or you can ask the General Register Office to conduct the search, for an additional fee.

You did not say, but if your Samuel is the one that settled in New Jersey, I believe someone wrote a history about him. This history is available through Family History Centers. To find out for sure, go to www.familysearch.org, select custom search, then Family History Catalog.

Elizabeth Simcox

I don't have absolute proof, but she was probably the daughter of Samuel Simcock and Sarah Trego. If so, she would have been born in West Bradford Township, Chester County, PA which is where Samuel lived in 1757.

In 1757, there were only two Simcock men in eastern PA of the right age to be her father, the aforesaid Samuel and Samuel's brother, Benjamin. Benjamin's daughter, Elizabeth, but was born 3 Jan 1751, so not a match. That only leaves Samuel.

This conclusion is supported by the fact that John Parsons was also from Chester County. Also, he and Elizabeth's 3rd 4th children were named, Samuel and Sarah.

Samuel Simcock was the son of Benjamin Simcock and Hannah Waln. Sarah Trego was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Trego.

Hi Bob, I'm descended through Samuel's first marriage to Meria Unknown (born ca 1802). They had five children, their youngest Samuel (my Gx3 grandfather) emigrated to Australia with his wife and six children. I do have a bit of information on your Elizabeth Lees which I acquired from Charlotte Middleton Hinde who has a large pedigree resource file on the IGI Family Search website. You may already be aware of this. It takes you back to Samuel parents Benjamin and Hannah (Nock) and grandparents Josiah and Sarah (Nightingale). I don't know if you can help me with any info on my side of the family or if you have gone back any further than Charlotte but would be pleased to hear from you if you have. Just one question, why do you think Samuel was born in Worcester and not Tollend, Tipton, Staffs?

Regards....Kathy

Thomas Simcox ( from England) and his wife, Jane (from Ireland) emigrated to the U.S., probably in the 1840s.They had a son, Theodore, who married Mary F. Baldwin. I am doing research for a friend of mine. We know nothing about Thomas or Jane. Info would be helpful. Her biggest interest, at this time, however, are the stories she heard as a child that there was American Indian on her Father's side of the family. She would like to know about this. It could be linked to the Simcox side or the Baldwin side of the family. If this is true, any marriage may have taken place in Pa. Anyone with info? Thank you.

Searching abt Clara May SIMCOX

This is a slightly unusual search. I am searching for people that might be related to Clara May SIMCOX. Clara May was born in 1880 in Wadsworth, Medina Co. to John SIMCOX and Amelia Matilda DESHLER. She married Marvin HOPKINS before 1900. At some point they divorced and she married Thomas JAMES abt 1907. She died in March 1919 in Wadsworth. Clara May had several children. She also had several siblings, one of which was Harry SIMCOX.
I am looking for information on the family, but a little more then the usual names & dates. My grandfather is the grandchild of Clara May. Due to unknown reasons he was never given the chance to know that side of his family. He is now in the hospital and I would love to be able to tell him abt the family he never got to know. In the last 10 years he has been very interested in my research into our family history so I know that he would be interested in learning more abt these people that is related to but never knew.

Hi *I* didn't list him as Conrad, that is how it is transcribed, I just cut and pasted it. The ones I viewed, such as the Deborah etc....I mentioned I viewed and what it looked like to me. I never change transcriptions...as then how would you search for it yourself in transcribed databases. ie; if the transcription shows Joe Blow and the image is for Joe Blowie I will tell you I viewed it and it looks like BLOWIE.....but will cut and paste the exact transcription to save you grief and hours of searching for a BLOWIE...when you will find it under BLOW.

http://thegallerycoffeehouse.com

.

Tony,
At this stage the only definite information I have of Thomas Simcox is that he married Annie Perkins (she was born 1867) so the dates correspond. I don't have any details of Thomas Simcox as yet. I am trying to piece together this branch from decendants I mentioned in the previous posting who live in the Shrewsbury area. I have been concentrating on Annie Perkins childrens families from her previous relationship and have only just started on this branch so I will let you know as soon as I get a birth or death date.
Regards
Craig

Antony,
I have a gg grandmother Annie Perkins who married a Thomas Simcox in Ludlow in 1903 after having 5 children from a previous relationship. They had one daughter that I know of. The decendants of this married became Jones, Gittens and Evans. Is this of any relevance to your search.
Regards
Craig Perkins
