I have data provided to me, in 1997, by Carl Simmers, a descendent of George Simmers born circa 1756. At the time I thought that there may be a connection but further research showed none.
The data includes: Letter to me from Carl; annotated Descendent Tree; copy of Cambria Co. Court record; estate records; and others.
