Thanks for your information. I was able to get some more information. Susan Hewett was from West Indies ( Bahamas).
She goes to the Saunders..still drifting through the information. But thank you for your heads up. Any hits as to how to find death dates. There seems to be alot even not listed for people who died in the 40-50's.
But thanks,
Penny

Hi,
I'm looking for more information on my great-grandfather, Peter Simonson. He was born on April 28, 1882 in Warren, Pennsylvania...this is all I know about him before he moved to Hibbing, MN. I tried contacting the Warren County Courthouse, but their records don't go back to 1882. Any information greatly appreciated!!

I am not a cousin. Just a newby bottle hunter, and I found one of those bottles this past weekend. My curiosity brought me to this site. Thank you so much for your quick response, I find this all so very fascinating. What was the time period then for the bottle company, the late 1800's early 1900's? What were the bottles used for, it looks like an old soda bottle. Again, thanks for your reply! :)

Edward Simonson was one of my great grandfathers. He owned the Monmouth House in Freehold,N.J. and had bottles made (he may have owned a bottle factory as well, I have forgotten and my records are elsewhere) for his hotel. There are quite a few of these and other bottles around the Freehold Borough area and often when they tear down an older building, they find some. Sometimes you will see one on ebay.
Are you a cousin?

Thanx for pointing out the typo. She died 16 Jan 1887 and was buried in Fountain on the 18th. Her death cert says her father was "John"- no mother given. They are the only 2 Simonsons on my tree, but as she is my children's 3rd great-grandmother, I am very interested in finding out more about her family. Any help/suggestions appreciated.
What was the date you had for her death? Has to be AFTER Jan 1880 (not 1878)for her to be on the census.
My family of Simonson is picked up in 1850 in Brooklyn, but before that I do not know if they are from S.I or NewTown or even NJ. I think she may be conected to my Carman Simonson, and that she took care of his family after his death until they could fend for them selves.
Jean

I'm probably the last to find out, but in case there is some new researcher looking for information, rootsweb has published great cemetery/church records @
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyrichmo/facsi/facsi_sicem...

And as long as I've got your attention- I'm trying to find the connection between Caroline SIMONSON HOMIER (1814-1878) & the PERO family. On the 1880 census, she is listed as niece, living with Peter, Mary E and Ann.

Your Aaron Simonson would be a brother to Barney Simonson and uncle to Barney's son, also Aaron Simoson. I found one source who gave Barney's father as also Barney Simonson. That source said Barney was b. 1723. No location. His son Barney Simonson (father of my Aaron) was b. Sep 17, 1774 in Caldwell Twp. Essex Co., NJ. Does this help? There is probably a relationship between these individuals since the location is very close. How many Aaron Simonsons could there have been in this small area at that time? I would presume there weren't many people living in the area?
The Mercereau family arrived Staten Island in 1688. The British made the island during the Revolution and Elizabeth's family fled to New Jersey. Elizabeth married during the Revolution. I would say it's a strong bet that you are right. Who was Aaron's parents?
Rae

Mellet Simonson- minnesota( Grand father-in law)

We have never done any family searches on my mother-in-laws Pearl Simonson Johnson's side but she was a Simonson. I know very little about her family. Her father's name was Mellet Simonson and he lived near Satiago or Foley MN. he died in around l977 and is buried in a small churchyard near Santiago Minnesota. he also had brothers named Ben, Nels and Andrew. Ben was a sherrif in Montanna.
My mother-in-law was ill and never spoke a lot about her family so we do not know much about them other than Mellet and the ones mentioned. I do remember her saying something about a Simon who was an uncle that went to school to learn signing language as he was deaf. I did a quick search for Simonsons as I knew one of the names in the family Bible was Olena and these names popped up...Hans, Simon, Andrew, Martin, Henry, Anna, Edward, Charlie and Nettie...all born around Mower or Racine in the late Mid 1880's. They are probably related.
Pearl was his only child. She married Clarence Johnson of Foley and they had 3 Children. Roger, Lonnie and Gayle Johnson Schlict. There are a number of Grandchildren.
Roger: Brenda Lee johnson Vaverick + 3 children
Konnie lynn Hendricks + 2 children
Kurt Roger Johnson +2 children
Barbie Engaged to be married
Lon Johnson
Alan evans 2 children
Tammy Evans Faucher 2 children
Gayle johnson Schlict l child, Erik Schlict 32
That is the only information I know.

Simonson Buried at Green-Wood/NYC: John, Mary, Charles- pre 1850

I ran across the following plot at Green-Wood cemetery in Brooklyn, NY. Green-Wood served as a main burial ground for New Yorker's during the 1830's+. Many Manhattanites were buried there following restrictions that prohibited burial in Manhattan. A relative of mine, Ann Shields of Manhattan, was buried there in 1850. After visiting the gravesite, I noticed a group of Simonsons in the next plot. This caught my attention as I'm aware that my Ann Shields was born on Staten Island and I'm aware that the Simonson name is common there. It's a stab in the dark, but the ages of the two older simonsons below are right to make one a potential sibling of my Ann whose maiden name I don't know. Maybe someone can make a connection. If not, I hope someone on this board can at least use this info. Here are the names on the monument marker:

John Simonson b. March 25, 1775; d. Aug. 16, 1850
Mary Simonson (wife) b. April 15, 1778; d. Aug. 8, 1847

sons:

Charles: d, jan. 2, 1838 (40 years)
Daniel: d. march 29, 1838 (32 years)

Taken from section #68, Green-Wood cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
I have him as John Bird Simonson, born 26 Mar 1795, married to Catherine Metcalfe & Jane Maria Crocheron. I don't have any other dates or info though, as I have not tried to follow up on him, to prove or disprove it. I don't recall where I got this info either. His parents were supposed to be Isaac Simonson & Elizabeth Bird. Hope this helps.

Priscilla

Jean, do you have any more info on Samuel's parents? I may have something on them.

My line is mostly unpublished. Most of my mom's side came from Staten Island & New Jersey areas.

The few times I've shared anything with anyone, I've told them that a lot is not verrified & I didn't want it online until I get that done. Each time, the people promise not to upload it, but do so anyway. You & I have corresponded occasionally over the years & I beleive you are one of the few honest people here! *grin*

I'll help if I can.

Abigail Simonson who married John Martling

Abigail Simonson, born about 1850, is supposed to have married John Martling of Staten Island, a mariner, master of the yacht "Maria" engaged in trading with Mexico. He supposedly was lost at sea, after having had a son Clarence Edgar, born in 1869. Abigail subsequently, in Brooklyn, married Robert Mitchell in 1880, but had divorced him by the time of the1900 census. I would like to know Abigail's dates and parentage, the date and place of her marriage to John Martling, the time of John's loss at sea, and the date and place of Abigail's death.

I have posted an extensive family tree on some members of the Simonson/Nickle/Aylesworth family in Canada (and to a lessor extent in the USA) on RootsWeb at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=samayles...

I hope that other members of our extended family may find this information be of value. My grandmothr was Gudrun Olga Mylada Simonson, daugther of Olof Simonson and Sigrid Hammarberg. I have recorded names of the ancestors of Olof and Sigrid but have very very little additional information about them. My grandmother married Samuel Clarence Nickle. Their daughter Agnes married my father Wesley Aylesworth. I would welcome connection with members of the extended Simonson family.

Best wishes,
Sam Aylesworth
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Hi~ it's really interesting to me that your last name is Lane. I was just looking at Frederick Simonson on the census yesterday and wondering if he could possibly be the father of my John Simonson (b. abt 1793 in Hempstead.

My Simonsons are John Simonson (b. abt 1793) and his wife Ann Simonson (surname unknown, b. abt 1797, Hempstead.

Their children were Richard Losey Simonson, b. 1815, Elizabeth Ann Simonson, b. 1818 (my great-great-great grandmother) and Mary Simonson, b. 1825, all of Hempstead.

Elizabeth Ann Simonson married William H. Lane (b. abt. 1817) and they had Julia C. Lane (b. 1843), and her siblings John H., Hannah, Mary, and Margarett.

Frederick Simonson was born about the right year to have been John's father, but I haven't checked all the census records yet. Do you have a John in your lineup?

Looking for MARGARET SIMONSON, b. 1903-4 in Iowa

I am looking for MARGARET SIMSONSON, born in 1904 in Iowa. She moved with her family as a young girl to Albuquerque New Mexico.

Father (CARL), mother (MALENA), brother (ALFRED), sister (CATHERINE) are all buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

Presumably MARGARET married between 1920 and 1930. As a result, I have lost track of her. No family members are alive to question.

The Simonson families currently living in Hamilton County Iowa and surrounding counties are related to MARGARET.

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Gary

John B. Simonson father of Ann Garrettson Simonson Bianchi

Hello.

Does anyone have the information on which Simonson was the father of John B. Simonson of Castleton, Staten Island, NY?

I know he was the father of Ann Garrettson Simonson Bianchi, Elizabeth B. Simonson Whittemore Bianchi and Jan Simonson Minagh, John B or C, James B., George M., . He was also the spouse of both Miss Catherine Metcalfe m. 5-30-1827 d. 4-1-1827, and Jane Maria Crocheron m. 11-30-1829. (according the the Sirname index at the Historic Richmondtown, Staten Island Archives. now available at the Family History Libraries of the LDS).

According to the census this John B. Simonson was 60 years old on 9-25-1860 which would make him born in 1800.

Does anyone know the answer?

Rosanne

a very distant cousin by Bianchi marriage.
