Hi. I'm looking for any information on my Scottish ancestors, the Simson family, begining with Reverend Andrew Simson who was born in 1520 in Perth, Scotland. He was the minister of Dalkeith and wrote the Dunbar rudiments. During the years 1550-1560 he was a schoolteacher of ancient grammar in Perth. In 1562 he was the minister of Dunning and Cargill in Perthshire. On June 28, 1564 he transferred to Dunbar. Master, had David Hume as his pupil. During 1577 he was the Drave at Dunbar and predicted the sinking of ships. 1582 - Transferred to Dalkeith. Known as the "Thundering preacher" and supported reformation. Andrew Simson died approx.
Andrew married Violet Adamson before 1556 in Scotland and had at least one child with her, a son, Rev. Patrick Simson who was born about 1556 in Perth, Scotland . 1590 in Perth, Scotland.
I have lots of information on the descendants of Andrew and his son Patrick, but I know nothing of Andrew's parentage. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for reading.
