This may be a little late after your posting, but I just found this site. Sorry to say I have not news on your request, but can tell you I am related to John Martin Singler whos son moved to Oregon in the late 1800's. My ggf was August D Singler, who was the Sharrif of Jackson County Or in the early 1900's. You can find information on him on the www if you look him up. I have a fairly extensive background of Singlers from this line but it only goes down to my generation and I was born in 1951. If you find a link between John Martin Singler and your linage, I would be very interested.
singlers in ohio magdaline, herman

im looking for any information on Magdaline and Herman Singler. Magdaline was born 1857 died 1932. she had one son Paul Herman Singler(born 1894 died 1967). he was my great grandfather. according to all my family we do not know who his father was and according to my grandmother it was said if we found out who it was it would shock the family. But im trying to uncover who he is. Im sure his name is Herman. One because the family said so and on Magdaline's death certificate it list she was a widow of Herman Singler. But her maiden name is singler. her father was Landolin Singler and mother was Agnes Singler nee Weaver both from germany. so if anyone has any information i would be so greatful. i have no information on Herman, maybe he couldve been a cousin??

Hi,
My name is Shirley (Singler) Payne. My grandfather was Herman Singler married to Anna Mae Meisner. Frank was my great grandfather. I have not been able to find much on Frank, except that he immigrated in 1866. He is buried in St. Louis cemetery in Louisville. I am the daughter of Xavier Francis (better known as "X.F." or "Bud"). With regard to the Langs, I have found a death certificate for Jacob Lang, father of Anna Margaret. He was married to Margaret Steinmetz. Both Jacob and Margaret were from Germany. My dad had one sister, Helen, who married Emmett Kaelin. They had 5 children.

hello, my name is amber and we are doing a school project on Walter Singler and the Milk pool of 1933 and I was wondering if there was any singler relatives that are still living in the Appleton area that we could contact. It would be much appreciated if you could post a reply on this website for me. My group and I would like to set up an interview with someone that would be able to give us some more insite on Walter Singler. This project is for national hsitory day and we are going to make a documentary about Walter M. Singler.
Thank you for the quick reply! The website looks very interesting, and the house picture seems to look similar to the one I have a picture of. You may be on the right track that it was a branch office. The literature that my aunt and her husband are looking at could be that of the Deutsches Haus. I look forward to investigating this further!

This is a picture of my great-aunt and her second husband - Paul & Florence (Butler) Singler. The writing on the building is in German and says "Deutsches Haus," and the flag appears to be displaying a swastika. But the location looks to be California. (They were married, lived and divorced in California). Might anyone know where they are and what type of building this is? So far Internet searches have provided no information.

I'm looking for more info regarding Paul Singler. He was the second husband of my great-aunt Florence L. (Butler) Samspon Singler. From what I've been able to gather, they were married from about 1936 - 1942 (probably in California), give or take a few years. I was wondering if anyone knew the exact dates and places of their marriage and divorce, and maybe why they were divorced. As far as I know no children came of this marriage. I'd also like to confirm that his parents were Joseph A. & Jesse E. (Warden) Singler. Also anything about what he might have been like as a person, did he remarry, have children, etc. I can be reached at hornchrissy@yahoo.com. Thank you.

I am the granddaughter of Milo Singler from Shiocton. I am the only child (that I know of) of Tim Singler his son. My mother Mary Wilmot was divorced from Tim when I was 6 months old. I have had off and on contact with them but not since Milo died over 10 years ago. I was adopted by my mom's second husband. I was closest to Milo of all of my Singler relations and miss him terribly. I have not been in touch with them for years due to a falling out we had after my grandfathers death.

I hope this helps

Looks like we are distant cousins. Do you live in Wisconsin? My dad, Gary Singler, son of Walter Singler (Milo's brother) died in 1989 and is buried in Appleton. Gayle Singler (I can't remember her married name, but I have it at home in my address book), Milo's daughter, lives in Appleton in the spring/summer and in Florida during the winter. She would be a good contact for you also.

I live in Monroe, Louisiana. If you ever come this way, please don't hesitate to call. It would be fun to meet you. I'll try to find out Gayle's last name and send it to you. Linda

I recently dug up a book on the family of Mathias Singler. He was born 2/5/1806 and lived in the southwestern part of Germany in the Duchy of Baden. He and his first wife (name uknown) were the parents of Mathias Jr., John, Bernhard, Victor and Catharine. He and his 2nd wife, Francizka, were the parents of Mary and Frances. In the early 1850s, Mathias moved his family to Clinton County, Illinois, in an area known as New Baden. Later, many of the family members settled in and around Montgomery County, Illinois. Francizka died 3/1/1875; Mathias then married a Mrs. Reisacher and later died 4/24/1881. I would be willing to share info. from this book if it would help someone else. And, if anyone has any other info. about Mathias' siblings, parents, first wife, etc., I'd appreciate hearing about it.

I'm not sure if my Bernhard is the same as the one you mention or not. My Bernhard was born in 1835 in Baden, Germany, and died Aug. 30, 1909. He married Barbara Morlock. But my info. says he grew to manhood on a farm south of New Baden, Illinois, and that Bernhard and Barbara spent most of their farming years on the farm, owned then by Anthony Harpstrite. About 1889, they moved a quarter of a mile north to a farm owned by them, where they lived until 1905, when they retired from farming and moved to New Baden. So it never mentions that he lived in St. Louis. I do not know what city in Baden the family came from, but do know the family was business partners and acquaintances in Germany with the Ambrose Hoehn family (also relatives of mine), and they lived in Munchweier. The Ambrose Hoehn family came to U.S. first, followed by Mathias Singler family. The families settled near each other and were business partners again in the U.S., and several of their descendents married each other. And yes, I do believe the Mathias Singler family was Catholic. The book I have, written in 1973, said there were Singlers at that time still living in Baden-Baden and in Karlsruhr. The only other Singler family mentioned is that of a William Singler. William's grandfather came alone from Germany to America and later served in the Civil War. The author believed that this elder Singler may have been the nephew of Mathias Singler. Any of this sound familiar?

She was a single mother to Paul and we have no idea who the father of Paul is. His mothers name was Magdeline who died in 1933 and is buried in St. Marys cemetery here in Cincinnati. If anyone has any information on who Pauls father may be or any information as to who Magdelines parents and ancestors are that would be very helpful.

I remember Gail--her sister Liz was my age, Gail is older. I found a picture of the family when their dad Milo was campaigning for an office. My husband said" wow, great looking family!!" My mother corresponded with Eileen for years. Amelia Singler Washburn (b.1871) had two children, Vera and Doris, Vera was my grandmother, married to Earl Meating. My mother was Mary Joyce Meating, married to Herbert Kelly, my father.
Washburns go back to the Mayflower, my mother always said, so after she died I tried setting out to prove it. I pretty much have that figured out, so I want to add all the other people I could find, so my children can have as much family history as I can give them.

My ggf or gggr entered the United States through New York piror to the Civil War. His name was George Singler and he served in a New York Regiment. His family ended up in Wisconsin in the Appleton/Green Bay Area. My grnadfather was Walter Singler, a farmer in Shiocton, who was very involved in the Milk Wars in the 1930's. My sister, Mary singler Browder, lives in McKinney, Texas and has extensive geneological information on the Singler family that goes back to Germany.

The German singlers that we are descended from were from the Alsace Lorraine area of Germany and were Catholic.

My father, Gary Singler, was an only child and was raised in Appleton, Wisconsin. I would be interested if anyone is related to Singler's who settled in Wisconsin. Thanks. Linda S. Holyfield
