Vicki,

I just learned that another of our relatives is the Registrar of her local chapter of the DAR. She established Daniel Sipes' service and got him listed in the DAR Patriot Index back in the 1980's. She is willing to share her paperwork with family members who are applying to the DAR. You can contact Barbara Wilson at jfwilson2k@earthlink.com. Good luck.

Sipes

I am a private investigator in Wa State. My client(birth name Julie Anna Sipes) is a 45 years old woman who was adopted in in June of 1964 after being born June 16, 1964 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. Her adopted parents have both passed away and she is seeking information about her birth mother. The little information she has is that her birth mother's last name was Sipes and that she would be between 57-60 years of age today. It is believed that her birth mother's parents were both college educators in California. Any information would be appreciated and the privacy of Julie's mother is of paramount importance.

I found a book on Microfished through the Latter Day Saints research that was written by Wm Jacob LODGE,M.D. of the record of the Descendents of Robert and Elizabeth LODGE (English Quakers) 1682-1903. This has the whole story of the SIPES from the first time they got here. It was microfished Aug.14, 1984. The G.S. call # is 6046741. Because my mother is a SIPE and my grandmother is actually in the last listing of our line, they left me print it out.
Go to your nearest research center and order it. They will get it from Utah for you to look at. Sandylee54L@netscape.net NOTE* this is a new email, with an "L".

Hi, this is your sis in Georgia! Mike Sipes, a brother to Paul Morris Sipes (father Paul H Sipes d 2-23-66 Shiswassee Co, Michigan)is buried somewhere in Hoosier National Forest, Indiana. The grave yard was in existance I believe before it bacame a national forest, so the graveyard is well maintained. I ran across his grave while working for the Hoosier National Forest in 1976. I was surprised to find his grave and did not relize at the time that he was a relative. I confirmed with Lorene Elizabeth Arnold Sipes that they were indeed related. Do you want me to try to locate his records?
Looks like your gggrandfather, Daniel, of NC might be the brother of my gggrandfather Benjamin Israel. There were 9 siblings in their family: John (1782), Jacob (1784) Mary / Molley (1784), Henry (1788), Katherine (1790), Daniel Jr (1793), Benjamin Israel (1815), Susan (1816) and Mary Jane (1818). Their parents are Daniel b 1760-61 in Lancaster County PA and Barby (possibly Miller) b 1770. Daniel Sr's father was Johann Paul Sipe (Seib) Jr, b 16 May 1726 Contwig Pfatz Bayern Germany and his mother was named Mary. His grandfather was Johann Paul Sipe (Seib)Sr b. 1700 in Contwig Pfatz Bayern Germany. Grandmother was Maria Margaretha Schmidt, b 15 Sept 1700 in Germany. Does this sound like the same family?

Lisel,

It would be interesting to hear where/how you got the rest of your data. I did some work on this, thinking you likely tie in to one of the3 Daniel Sipes I'm related to.

I found your father on the 1920 census and identified his parents as Geoge W (1872) and Della (1880), living in Arkansas. This seems to match your information.

In the 1900 census I found George and Della, living with his parents, listed as John (1840) and Nancy J (1841). It says John was married in 1864, was born in Missouri and both of John's parents in Pennsylvania.

I found Geoge with his parents on the 1880 living in Arkansas. The census says John was born in Missouri, his father in Pennsylvania and his mother Kentucky. It also says John and Nancy's oldest (living) son (George's older brother) was born in Missouri in 1867. The rest of the kids were born in Arkansas.

John and Nancy are on the 1870 census with four children, Your George was not born yet.

I haven't been able to find John in the 1860 census or the 1850 census. There is a michael the correct age...

So there seems to be a disconnect here from the information you have.

I found a family tree that include all this information http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=janhol...

I'm guessing this is your father's family.

Sharon - just curious, I just read through a Genealogy on World Vital Records that talks about this family.

There are a few discrepancies in some of the names and dates compared to your info. For instance, it says Christina was born in 1825.

I would be interested in comparing some informaiton if you are interested - just let me know.

Joan

That family tree really helped me. I was missing John Sipes who would have been my great grandfather-George's father. Eli (I had found an Elzy) would be HIS father and so on. The article about his life was a help too, usually you only find names, so it is hard to picture what they were like, and doubly hard for me because there are no other Sipes families up here in Massachusetts. Thanks again!

Lisel Sipes

I just read this post and can reply to it. My father (Norman B. Sipes) was a nephew of Ells Sipes who married Millie Dukeman. My father's father was Paul Henry Sipes. The father of Ells Sipes and Paul Sipes was David Sipes.

Hi, yes I'd love to see those pictures and show you mine too. I tried the email address you gave but the email was returned to me. Is that possibly a "b" instead of a "d"?

I have an old photo of my grandfather (Paul Henry Sipes) with his brother, Richard Sipes. Do you have any old photos? E.Ellsworth Sipes was their brother.

Hi. Paul Henry Sipes was my grandfather. His family moved from Illinois to Louisiana. He died when he was 33 years old. His son, my dad, Norman B. Sipes, recently passed away in June just 5 days short of his 86th birthday.
