Hi Robby, We are related,I am sure of it. My dad's name was John Wayne Sipp and he passed away in 1976. My mom's name was Lucy Trayler. She died in 1997. They were both from southeast Missouri. My grandparents on my dad's side were Ora May and John Henry Sipp. Jake Sipp was my uncle and Edie Bea was my aunt. I can't find anything about my great grandparents on the Sipp side either. I live in St.Louis. If you have found out any information, please let me know. Keep in touch. Vicki

Christian was born June 15, 1824 in Baden Baden, Bavaria, Germany and moved to America in 1846. It took them 96 days to cross the Atlantic, usual time was 30-40, They passed 2 large rocks that they had passed one month earlier. Were saved from crashing into the rocks by the first mate and captain, and ran out of food. They landed in New Orleans, then traveled up the Mississippi river to St. Louis, then onto Butler County, Ohio. Christian married Mary Thomas on January 2, 1849. Her name may have been Anna Mary Thomas, but the information I have just lists her as Mary.

ok, I had a few details wrong... it was Andrew Sipp that had to be smuggled in a meat barrel but it was because his father Wilhelm Heinrich (William Henry) Sipp did not want him to have to serve in war as he had during napoleons march to Moscow in 1812. They all ended up settling in the Butler County, Ohio area and my relation later moved on to Nebraska. I have information on the family dating back to 1657 and would be glad to share it and talk to anyone that may be related

They came over a little later than your Sipp, but wonder if they could be related? This line was from Czech towns of Strakonice and Lhota Svejcarova.

Brittney

I'm an african american sipp also. Sipp is a very unusal name, so more than likely we probable are relatives. My dad name is Samuel Sipp born to Wilmon and Rosa Sipp in Columbia, MS. My dad is 91 yrs young lives in Pascagoula, MS. His father died when he was very young and he was raised by his step father. We don't have a strong background of the Sipp's. His father had several brother and sisters. Some migrated to Chicago, California, Louisiana and many other places. I spoke with some Sipps in Abbeville,Al. He didn't have too much info because he was adopted and took on his adopted parents name but he know his mother was a Sipp and he told me that he located his siblings and they carry the Sipp name. I have more info. and will get in touch with you.
Until then take care
Sabreana Sipp Montgomery
Gautier MS

(228) 522-3378

The Sipp family has a Kiernan connection that I am interested in. John L. Sipp William's father married Margaret Kiernan whose father was William and mother was Jane Rinn. Margaret had several siblings: Frank, Elizabeth, William, Mary and Sarah. Frank lived with the Sipps on Staten Island for a period of time. My family interest is the Rinns. I would like to trace the descendents. Know anything about them? Would love to hear from you.
Lucille

Sipps of Ohio

I am looking for the name of my great-great grandfather Cawelti born in the 1850s or 1860s. He and his wife (maiden name of Fay) had several children in
Ventura County, CA. Their names included JOHN CLARENCE CAWELTI born 12 January 1890, CHESTER L. Cawelti born 20 August 1884, ERNEST
EDWIN CAWELTI born 12 December 1897, and my great-grandfather Norman Cawelti, born in Ventura Co., CA on July 29, 1880.
His father, John Cawelti was an immigrant from Wurtemberg, Germany, born in 1829. John lived in Milwaukee, Ohio, Iowa and California. He married a the
widow of Jud Sipp in Cincinnati, OH in 1852. She was also a German immigrant with the maiden name of Wagner. They had a total of nine children I
believe, born in Iowa and California. Their names included DORA LILLIE, born 17 March 1866;
ANDREW EDMAN, born 26 May 1875 and others.
If you are related to Caweltis in Ventura or Kern Counties, chances are that you are related to me. If you have any information on this line or have any
questions please email me. See my family tree online too.
[My grandfather is Robert Norman Cawelti. His brothers and sister are Harold, Lawrence, Wilfred, Amy (Janice), and Frank.]

Thank you,
Cheryl Farley

Hi my mother is first cousins to the Sipps. She is the daughter of second to the youngest son, John Doran May. Abraham Lincoln married Ethel Irene May. Ethel died 24 February 1920 in Washington County, Oregon and is buried at Arcade Cemetery "Pumpkin Ridge" North Plains, Washington County, Oregon. I need place where Abe and Ethel married, have date of 1904. Wonder what happened to the children after Ethel died as they were still quite young.

Sipp's in New Jersey

my Grandmother's name was Clara Sipp. Her father was Frank Moffett Sipp. His family was from Bergen county N.J. They were established at a home (now the oldest home in Bergen county)called Sipp Manor for two and a half centuries. The home was acquired in 1669. Franks father I am told married a Jewess woman and had four children, after she died he married Clara Moffett and they had six more children. Some of them settled in Pa. and the rest in Nj. the latter six were Herbert, Mabel, Mary, Ethel (married __ Unterman) Anna, and Frank. Anyone with info on this family please contact me. Anyone related? .... please write....I need to fill in some gaps.
Jody Weaver

Dear Lorraine,
Thank you for responding to my inquiry. Please forgive me for not writing sooner but I have been very sick this last month and have not been on my computer. My Grandmother Clara Sipp had brothers William,Charles, Herbert and Johnny, and a ,sister Francis. I believe that is all but at present I am unable to locate my list of siblings for her. I have found out some information recently concerning her father Frank Moffett Sipp. I have found that his parents names were Clara Moffett Sipp and George Sipp. I do have some info regarding his father George being in the military and that Clara was his second wife. I am learning a good deal about Sipp Manor, the family home that was in the Sipp family for two and a half centuries. It is located in Bergen county New Jersey and is the oldest known residence in Bergen. I would love to hear what info you may have. I have a few pictures of my grandmother and her siblings and her parents. If my husband has time I will get him to scan the pictures for me and send them to you if you are interested. I am quite computer illiterate where as he is going to school for computer science. :) I am Genevieve's daughter, Clara was her mother in case you were wondering. Please write and tell me about yourself. I am always thrilled to meet to new family members. I live in Lancaster Pa, with my husband and we have three little boys and one on the way, due in May.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jody

Dear Lorraine,

It just dawned on me after I sent the first reply to you that I believe I have met your grandmother. You said your grandfather's name was William. He married a woman named Clara and Clara's sister (who I call aunt Anne) married Williams brother. About twelve years ago my Mom and Dad and I flew to Florida to go to Disney world and we stayed with Aunt Clara. She was then married to MIke I beleive or they called him Tex. I remember Aunt CLara made Dolls. Her house was full of them. We have pictures of her too. Let me know If I am correct in that Aunt Clara is your grandmother. :)
Sincerely,
Jody

I do not know if they are related or not but my gr. gr. grandfather George Sip (Later changed it to Sipp) was born aprox.1842-44. I was told that he first married a woman of Jewish decent and they had 4-6 children? Not sure though. Then he married Clara Jane Moffett. All that I know of George is that he was born in N.J. and I believed died there. I have a copy of an obituary for his son Herbert and it states that he is part of "THEE" Sip family who held the Sip Manor in Bergen County N.J. for over two and a half centuries. George was in the civil war also. I have a picture of him. George and Clara had children, Herbert, Frank, Clara, Mabel, Mary, Annie, and Ethel. If any of these names are familiar. Please contact me.
Thanks...JodyW1026@hotmail.com I also have pictures of some of Georges children. Herbert, Frank, and two sisters.

I do recognize some of the names I've seen posted on here, my family came in a large group from Germany in 1883, they had so many children the youngest was more than the could legally bring over on the ship so he had to be smuggled in a meat barrel. I think that may have been charles andrew sipp but I'll have to find the records tomorrow and find out for sure. I know another was named william henry sipp... anyway I'll wait until tomorrow to write more after I have more details but hope to hear from some fellow sipps since we're not very common :)
