This is very interesting. My great-great-great-grandfather was Sebastiano Carco, born in Mineo (near Catania) around 1850. His daughter Antonia (Antonietta) was born in Mineo in 1871. I have a great uncle named ROSARIO SIRACUSA, he has 3 brothers GIOVANNI, GUISEPPI, and CARMELO,. I dont know where they come from other then Sicily. I have been looking for my grandfather for quite a long time, he is Giovanni and was married to Tommassa Traina, she comes from Collesano.

Have you checked the naturalization records at the Cayuga County Office Building in Auburn?

A side note: I went to St. Mary's School in Auburn NY with Rosario Siracusa. We graduated in 1957. He would have been born between 1941-1944. He was a gifted piano player. I believe he moved to California as a teenager. Do you know this Rosario Siracusa?

Last time I wrote I had no information on my family, I've found out alot since then but am still looking for those we have yet to meet. My family came from the mountain town of Cianciana, Sicily in the province of Agrigento.
My greatgrandfather was Calogero (Charles) Siracusaand great grandmother is Vincenza Siracusa (Piazza). He came to Luzerne, PA (Luzerne Co./NEPA) with his cousins in 1904 and she, in 1914. The cousins he came with were Giuseppe Dellarte and Francesco Cicero. The family name then changed over to "Siracuse". They had my grandfather, James in the US, along with his brothers and sisters(Josephine, Mary, Charles, and Jenny)

Hi! My wife is a Siracusa by birth. Her grandparents were Charles and Genevieve. We believe they came here from Sicily. They lived in Chicago Illinois, during the fifty's and sixty's. They had one son named John, which is my wife's father. I think he now lives in Ohio. I understand all the Siracusa were related when they came over if they were from Sicily. Thanks for your reply. I have a grandfather named Giuseppe and he had brothers Giovanni and Carmelo Siracusa, who lived in Porto Empedocle, Argrigento, sicily. I believe they were fisherman or farmers.
Giuseppe had a son named Gerlando born in 1893 in Porto Empedocle who emigrated to America in 1919, I have more information on this, If you think there is a connection, please let me know!

We are probably distantly related -- I am also related to Siracusa's and Carco's, all from Mineo!

My family tree is at www.leonardociampa.com/albero.html My grandmother was Grazia Siracusa. Her parents were Emmanuela Spitalieri (1888-1938) and Mario Siracusa (1882-1926). The Spitalieri's and Siracusa's lived across the street from each other in Mineo. They were married there around 1905. Their first son, Giuseppe, was born in 1906. Then Mario went to South America for about 7 years. He returned, and in 1913 my grandmother was conceived. The family sailed to America in the spring of 1914; my grandmother was born in Boston July 19, 1914.

Emmanuela's mother was Antonia Carco, who was born around 1870. She came to East Boston as a widow in the mid 1930s and lived with Emmanuela and her children. Antonia died there (East Boston) in 1936 or '37. Her husband was Nunzio Spitalieri.

Meanwhile, Mario Siracusa, my great-grandfather, did have a brother Antonio. His wife's name was Beppina (Josephine). In fact I can tell you all the Siracusa's names:

1. Beppo (never came to America)
2. Pino -- wife's name, Anna
3. Mario (my great-grandfather)
4. Antonio -- wife's name, Beppina
5. Luigi -- wife was called Geni (accent on i)
6. Salvatore (never came to America)
7. Gioanno (never came to America)

That's about all I know, except that Antonia's mother's maiden name was Limoli.

I am searching the Siracusa family of Mineo, Sicily, Italy. Antonio Siracussa and Maria Carco were both from Mineo. Maria came to the US as a widow. I know of one son Sebastiano (John) Siracusa b. 11SEP1905 in Mineo. The family came to the US when John was 2 yrs old (1907-8). John married Jennie (?) Accetta who was also from Mineo in Boston (Dorchester) in 1928. Jennie was the daughter of Joseph Accetta and Josephine Carco (yes the Carco's were sisters). Please contact me at my email address. I may have some information for you on Guiseppe Siracusa. My father's mother was Maria Siracusa and her brother was Salvatore married to a Guiseppa and they had a son Guiseppe who was born in 1894. The family was from Sicily originally and went to Brazil where my father was born in Rio de Janiero. They came to America (New York City) in August 1903.
