I am wondering. I see that Jefferson had been in WWI. There is evidence of that record. Maybe he did not come back because he was a casualty????? There are no further records of him after that time period (1920). I could be wrong. Just a thought. There are also two different month dates for his birthday one in coordinance with the military records, the other, what his parents stated in the census (Feb and/or Jan). But yes, he is the same person. I think I would check with the NARA to see if maybe it is possible that they had a record of his military status.
