Ran across this interesting tidbit the other day:
The United States Congress in 1872 passed "AN ACT" for the "Removal of Political Disabilities" for:
L.A. Sypert of Christian County, KY
Luke W. Trafton of Henderson County, KY
A. J. SISK of Hopkins County, KY
John Couch of Hopkins County, KY
It states the "political disabilities imposed by the third section of the fourteenth amendment to the Constitution of the United States.....are hereby, removed"
Bet I'm not the only one unfamiliar with the 3rd Section of the 14th Amendment. <g> It says:
No person shall hold any office, civil, state, military, or congressional, who having previously taken an oath as a member of Congress, officer of the US, executive officer in any State, or in any civil, state, or military office to support the Constitution of the United States... shall have engaged in insurrrection or rebellion against the same or given aid or comfort, etc.. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds, remove such disability.
Basically, it seems A.J. held some type of official position prior to the Civil War and wanted it again. But, he had to seek "removal of disability" aka a pardon first.
Details (and a copy of the original documents) are at:

Now the question is....who's A.J.? One of the Andrew Jackson's perhaps? Any ideas?
