Hello - I have been reading these threads and am very familiar with the area. Been going there for years. Knew the place when the library was on the Bay and no Hilton etc. East Tawas (East Tawas Bay). My dad lives up there at Lake Ogemaw in West Branch area. I have seen your Sisk name for years there on M-45 almost to East Tawas. Lixey's is the fish market north of East Tawas. Anyhow, I am a Sisk and have done some research on your line. If you guys would like to e-mail me at Dawnberry5@aol.com that would be fine. I may be able to help you. I have done quite a bit of research and will be more than happy to help if I can. Sincerely, Dawn Sisk

Lucinda Sisk, Madison VA

Would anyone have information on Lucinda Sisk, born abt 1835
in Madison County, VA - Father Thomas Sisk, Mother Sarah Weakley. Lucinda married Jordan D. Ailstock in 1855 who died in 1865. They had at least 5 children: John Thomas, Charles Preston, Henry Bascom, Sarough M and Chrysly Davis. After Jordan's death, census records show Lucinda with four additional children, Anderson, James C, Louisa and Wheeler all with the surname of Ailstock. Looking for info on who was the father and perhaps the mother of the these last four children raised by Lucinda. Lucinda lived in Millboro, Rockbridge County Virginia and Mountain Cove, West Virginia. She died in 1914.

I am wondering. I see that Jefferson had been in WWI. There is evidence of that record. Maybe he did not come back because he was a casualty????? There are no further records of him after that time period (1920). I could be wrong. Just a thought. There are also two different month dates for his birthday one in coordinance with the military records, the other, what his parents stated in the census (Feb and/or Jan). But yes, he is the same person. I think I would check with the NARA to see if maybe it is possible that they had a record of his military status.

Dawn

I know you said in 2005 that you had no other information, but I am hoping either you or someone else with Sisk relatives may be able to help. In my attempts to fill in my own family tree, I have found a Henrietta Sisk Morgan born in Feb 1862 who is said to have been adopted by my GGF William Morgan and raised as step sister to my grandfather William Martin Morgan. I have identified two siblings of Wm Richard Morgan, born in Wales, Mary and Edward, but none named Henrietta. There must be a link somewhere. Do you have any knowledge of my Henrietta? Thanks for any help you can offer. M. Westland

Hi, Sharon. I am much impressed with your work in transcribing all of these deeds for the Sisks. I worked on the Sisk family a long time ago and finally gave up at that time because I could not locate anything further, but now with the internet, many more things are on line and I intend to get back into researching on the Sisk line soon. I would love to correspond with you.

I would like to point out one thing. The deed is actually stating that Matthew Stanton's occupation is "clerk" and that Timothy Sisk's ocupation is "planter", so the deed should say the following:

"Mathew Stanton of the Parish of St. Marks in the County of Orange of the one part, clerk, and Timothy Sisk of the Parish and County aforesaid of the other part, planter."

I think they just left off a comma after the occupation of the first party.

So there really is no "Clark Sisk".

I'm sorry...I must have replied to the wrong message. I think the original message I was trying to get to was from a Tara Sisk who said her great grandmother was married to Jefferson Leroy Sisk. I know your relations were from the same family originally, I think, some going to Illinois and some south. Thanks for the reply though.
Marcia

Vera Vashti Gray was my grandmother. She was married to Jefferson Leroy Sisk from abt 1913-1920. They had 3 children, Icytus Marie, b. 1914; Creel A., b. 1916, & Jefferson Leroy Sisk Jr., b. 1919-1920, all in Blytheville, Arkansas where Jeff Sr. was also born. Vera was born in TN. When was your grandmother married to Jeff Sisk and was it Jr or Sr? Jefferson left Vera shortly after the 1920 census and the children were put in an orphanage and I have been unable to locate the children. Vera remarried my grandfather, Meddie Brown and had 5 more children. I would love to find these children. Their 1/2 brother, my uncle Bill is almost 87 and I would like a conclusion for him. I can give you more info on the family if you need. Thanks in advance...hope you get this after all these years.
