I have been looking at past messages. I am researching all SISLEYs born in the United Kingdom.

By now I expect you have received replies from other sources.

I can offer the following:

Stanley John Sisley was the son of John Sisley (born 1883 - registered Penzance 5c /252). He married Emma J Perkin in 1916 (registered Penzance 5c / 445).

I have no record of Stanley possibly being Stanley John's father as you suggest. I would be pleased to investigate if you are able to give me more infomation.

Stanley was born in 1918 (registered Penzance 5c / 271)

They had a daughter Emma J P born in 1924 (registered Penzance 5c / 295).

Although the register shows Penzance it is almost certain the events took place in St. Ives, in Cornwall.

This is not part of my family. They came from Kent.

Hello Philip,

I have looked at 1901 Census Return. It shows Will Frank Sisley living as a boarder with the Neal Family (Head James aged 44 - Wife Eliza aged 43). They lived at 18 Aylesbury Road, Walworth, Southwark, London.

One of the daughters is Annie Louisa Neal aged 19.

Will(iam)was a Railway Engine Cleaner. Aylesbury Road, Walworth, Southwark is close to Bricklayers Arms which was the main engine shed for London Bridge Station.

If he married Annie L(aura) Neal, this would make him my great uncle. Annie's brother, James Benjamin Neal was my mother's father.

I have run into a Malinda Sisley b. 1809 PA who seems to fit into the family exactly, but I have not been able to reconcile "Indiana" with "Malinda". Malinda probably m.1 Richard Everson and m.2 George Gordon - of Washington, Fayette Co., PA. Might I be right that Indiana is Malinda or have I jumped the track? Any help would be appreciated.

I've been researching my mother's family line, and I came across a FRANK SISLEY who was a lodger with my great grandparents in the 1901 census - age 20 and born in Staplehurst, Kent.

That somehow rang a bell as I vaguley rememberr some connection with the Sisley's on my mother's side. Did a SISLEY marry a NEAL - or perhaps a LOVELL?

If anybody can help, I'd be grateful. I cannot ask my mothe as she died in 2000 and had suffered with Alkheimers for a number of years.

I am researching into the SISLEY family (mother's maiden name). I am mostly interested in Henry Sisley, b circa 1870, location possibly Kent, U.K, died circa 1929, married to Clara McIver or possibly Maciver, date not known, she died nk. Henry is the father of my grandfather Percy James Sisley, who had 2 brothers, Charles and Hubert (dobs nk), and 3 sisters, Elizabeth Ellen, Win and Florence, dobs nk for all.

I am searching for the death records of Paul and Robert Sisley. They were both born about 1830 in Pickering, Ontario. At some point they moved to Western Canada, possibly Manitoba. I am particularly interested in finding out the birthplace of their father, George Sisley (birthname Sisler) in Pennsylvania. It is believed that my 4th great grandfather, James Sisler, and George Sisley were brothers.

Between 1818 and 1824, George Sisler Junior changed his name from Sisler to Sisley. Perhaps he changed it because it sounded "less German" since he was living in a predominately non-German area. George died February 28, 1835 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

While doing my research for William Fidge & Anne Sisley , i came across a book at my library "Monumental Inscriptions in the Churchyard and Church of All Saints , Lydd , Kent.." Fancis Sisley late of this parish deceased 28 July 1808 age 60 and 9 children , 4 sons & 5 daughters who d. infancy.Left surviving Anne his wife 3 sons & 1 daughter ; Thomas , Francis , John & Elizabeth . Sisley is a family name for me too (my father's grandmother was Charlotte Anne Sisley (married in Shere nr. Guildford) but the rest of the family hail from near Sittingboure in Kent.

My father has investigated as far as possible but is stuck early 19th C.

Sisley is a family name on my father's side - all coming from Kent.

Even related to an Ada Tooth Sisley.

My father' grandmother was Charlotte Anne Sisley and was married in Shere (nr. Guildford) but the family (mostly agricultural labourers) come from the Sittingbourne area.

Possible relation to Alfred Sisley (french impressionist painter - but I'm sure that you know that) but my father is stuch in his investigations in early 19th Century.

I don't think that I acn help with your research as my branch of the Sisley family were all based in and aroung Maidstone in Kent with no apparent links to Cornwall.

However, I did read some comments that suggested a Sisley connection in Cornwall on this message board (with a Mackett connection) so if you haven't seen this already dig a little deeper on this site.

Alwilda's mother was Mary Lowstutter and father was Amberson Evans Sisley b. 12/18/1814 Fayette Co. Pa d. 2/16/1862 Pa. Amberson's parents were Lewis Sisley and Margaret Ellis. In the Sisley Family Bible pages it has Jane as the first name of Lewis's mother, but Germans typically had more than one given name & often alternated between them. Johan Jacob's parents were Johan Adam SCHISSLER & Anne Margareta. In 1752 at the Port of Philadelphia Johan Adam SCHISSLER took "The OATH Of ALLEGIACE". Amberson Evans SISLEY son of Lewis SISLEY & Margaret ELLIS was married to Mary LOWSTUTTER, not Mary Ann SHEPLER. the LOWSTUTTER/LOSTATTER'S also lived in Philadelphia at the same time and took the "OATH OF ALLEGIANCE" in 1750. I'm not clear who I'm sending an email to - my intent is to reply to the person who has ancestors called Sisley. Is this right, or is it an admin email?

However, whoever is receiving this - my great grandfather is James Henry Sisley, who was born in Sheppey Jan 21st 1850. His father was James John Sisley, who is recorded as a shipwright in 1850, and a carpenter in 1874. James Henry married Jane Cashfield April 26th 1874 1874, in Woolwich. He was then a grainer (painter). He died of TB in Woolwich on September 3rd 1903. His occupation then was painter (Arsenal), which I presume means he worked at Woolwich Arsenal. He had a daughter, Alice Jane, (my grandmother), in 1880, and other children.

Is this the same family as the one of the person I think I am emailing to? The above is all I know, and I would love to know more. I'm planning to go to Woolwich in September to do more research.
