Sizer name adapted from German name?

Surnames: Sizer
My great-grandfather Edward Sizer born in Cincinnati ca 1856 doesn't seem to be of the "known" Sizer strands. Someone in the family thinks his parents may have come from Germany--does anyone know of such an immigration link?
