Tammy, I really appreciate the information you have shared on the Skym family. My grandfather was Eugene Caton Skym, I have been trying to find out more about the Skym side of the family and no one seems to know more than what you have posted. I have recently asked my grandmother, Melissa Skym (Beebe) but she said she really doesn't know much as my grandfather really didn't talk much about his family. She thinks there was some kind of falling out, I am so sad...wish I knew more or knew of someone who could shed some light on what happened. I am curious as well as to how you are related and one other question, may be out of place here...are you LDS? Would love to hear from you and again thank you for the information that you have shared!
Theresa Whitfield (Skym)

Hi Bev,
As far as I can find our Skym family came from around Llangerdeine. Mary married Thomas jenkins and their son John later moved down to Llanelli and married Sarah Thomas. I have no knowledge of an Ann or Margaret Skym. Only wish I could be of more help. Do keep in touch as the name seems a failry uncommon one. There are none in the phone book here.
regards Audrey Jenkins.
This too is something I have been trying to learn as my surname is Skym. I have been able to trace my ancestors back to London England and have a few dates and names but not much info than that. I would love to get in contact with this friend of yours from England and exchange family info, would be interesting to find out if we are somehow related. Not sure how we could go about doing this but please contact me if you are still doing your research. I have already started a family tree on here so you could share that as well with your friend.
Tammy Skym

Re: SKYM surname

Peter and Celia Skym were my great great grandparents. Their daughter Estella(not stella) was my great greatgrandma
and I was raised in the family homestead in Brighton Michigan. I was reasearching my great grandfather who married Estella when I came upon this message. I now live in this local area and have visited their graves in the Homer
township cemetery. Of Estella's children I believe that the last one died just several months ago. I have obtained some information from my Uncle Claude as is the last one living that was raised with his grandma Estella Francisco. I do not know how much help I can be but would share anything I can.
I will check this board frequently. Sorry it took me so long to find this message

I am looking for further information on the Family of Peter SKYM. He was born June 27, 1836 in Albany, NY and married Celia MILLER on February 23, 1865. They had four children: Frank, Stella, Clinton and Arthur (he passed away at 2 1/2 years old). Peter died November 24, 1913 in Homer Township, Michigan and Celia died October 28, 1924 in Brighton, Michigan.
Peters Father and Mother were:
John SKYM, born about January 15, 1818 in England and died January 4, 1878 in Ashtabula County, Ohio. His wife and Peters mother was Susan (THOROUGHGOOD) SKYM, she was born June 27, 1836 in Albany, New York and died November 24, 1913 in Homer Township. Would love to hear from anyone with information. Thanks
