Harold Edgar Skyrme

Harold Skyrme was a chemist in Hastings in the early 1900s. By chance I have one of his Christmas cards, showing his four children, probably dated about 1911 or 1912.

If any relative (or interested party) would like a scan, Please let me know.

Skyrmes of Pembrokeshire

Hello everyone researching Skyrmes.

After about a year of using Ancestry.co.uk to research the Skyrmes of Pembrokeshire, I have just published the first part of this research.

This is a 48-page PDF document on the Skyrm(e)s of Manorbier and Penally. You can find it on my website at www.skyrme.info.

Thanks for everyone on Ancestry who contributed relevant family trees and corresponded with me. I have corrected many of the transcription errors along the way in which Skyrme has been mispelt - Ikyme, Shyrm and Scarin among them.

Since publishing a couple of weeks ago, I have received more emails with new information, including one from someone who has made the link between this branch of Skyrmes and those in Herefordshire.

Please keep your inputs coming and I shall try and do an update in early 2012.

In the meantime, good luck with your Skyrme researches.

We are researching the fallen on our war memorial, which includes a Hubert SKYRME. He was the son of the village Head Master who was James H Skyrme who according to the 1891 census, he originated from Chiriton in Kent, where we find him to be an unmarried school teacher aged 21.

No Hereford connections, but probably of the family further back?

This is a long shot. I am tracing my wife's tree and I think that John Skyrme could be part of that tree.
I have for certain Emily Louise Skyrme Born 1864 (Grandmother) Her father was Arthur Edwin Skyrme Born 1841 and, I hope, that John could be his father.
Arthur Edwin was also a Tailor working in St Martin's Street, Hereford.

I have been tracing my family history for some time but have come to a block.
The furthest is John Skyrme 1807 Tiberton Hereford and died in Blakemere, he was married to Anne Wilcox 1806 Preston-on-wye he was my gr.gr.gr. grandfather.He was a tailor, my gr.gr. grandmother was Eliza Skyrme 1837-1889 she was a dressmaker. All my branch of the Skyrme family came from Tiberton/ Blakemere, Mocass, Preston-on-wye, Ploughfield area. Anyone who has any info or connections please let me know.

Thank you for your offer of help re Skyrme family history. A few weeks ago I went to Eaton Bishop where they lived at the end of 1800s and hope to go to Hereford to look up more info when I ahve hols. Cheers Carolyn

I was down in Vowchurch where many of the Skyrmes came from, lovely place

I am looking for any information regarding the Skyrme family originally from Vowchurch in Herefordshire

My grandfathers father was Albert John Skyrme born 1882 in Vowchurch. And my grandfathers mother was Agnes Ruck born 1882 in Canon Pyon Herefordshire

I would appreciate any information on these two families please
