Seeking contact with researchers of the Slate family of Stokes Co NC. I am researching William George Slate, known as George, b. between 1833-1844, either in VA or NC. [CSA Pension records states that he was born in 1833 in Danville, VA, but census records 1844 in NC, probably Stokes Co NC]. He appears to have been a son of a Samuel Slate who resided in Stokes Co NC in 1860. Can anyone give me any more background information on this family?
