Slate, Lane, Everett, and Sylvester

My Aunt Susan McElwee was married to Lane Slate. I believe he is from MA. They had two son's, Lane, Jr. (died years ago in NY) and Webster (now living in AZ) They lived in NY for a long time before moving to California. Uncle Lane and Aunt Susan passed several years back. Aunt Susan died in CA in 1977 and I was told Uncle Lane died in AZ. I believe I was also told that my Aunt Susan was sent for burial in MA. She died first. I have no idea where Uncle Lane is buried, I would think MA. My Uncle Lane use to write, direct ect... movies and tv show's. Anyway, I am just trying to find out where Lane and Susan Slate are buried. I would also like to do a little genealogy on Lane's side to give to Webster. Anyway, I appreciate any help that you can give me. My email address is:
r_pine@live.com
Thanks!
Hi - Do you have full dates of death for Lathrop Slate died c1872 & his wife? I am not a descendant but am filling in on my Slate Family. I des from Daniel & Mary Sabin of Gill MA thru one of their daus. I think Lathrop Sr is son of Zebediah Slate of Bernardston, MA but I am not sure. They may be in one of the cemeteries you were looking for photos of. Doris R. Sheridan, Troy NY

Hall.

At the time of the census, Ivy was 16 years old and Elmer was 26 years old. They were not married for a year yet. No children are listed either.

Ivy lists her parents states of birth as United State for her father and Texas for her mother. Ivy is listed as being born in Texas.

Elmer's parents; father and mother born in Alabama as is he.
Elmer is listed as employed as a fireman at a stationary.

Why are you calling Samuel Slate d 1806 "Sr."? Have you found any documentation or is it just because he has a son Samuel? Several researchers including some that died without knowing have searched for the answer to the parentage question and Peggy and I do not want to join them!

My line goes Samuel and Mary then Samuel and Elizabeth Osbrooks then Michael/Micah and Sarah Willard then Samuel Andrew Jackson Slate and Elizabeth Evollia Thomas then America Louvenia Slate and Thomas Jefferson Clark then Silas Vergil Clark then Mom and me! Either with the list or me privately at w.godwin@sbcglobal.net Several of us including Peggy and I have hunted for many years. Samuel Slate d 1806 Pittsylvania co VA is the ancestor to many, many Slate descendents in the US. As to Samuel's parentage that is still unresolved. Louise

It's been some time since you posted this, so I'm not sure you're still actively inquiring. My family is descended from the Daniel Slate/Mary Billington Sabin line. My grandfather was Edmund L. Slate, son of Frederick W. Slate (and Milda Schmitter Slate), who was son of Luman J. (and Rose Whitcomb Slate), originally from Holyoke. In fact, many family members visited the Slate Memorial Library in Gill in the '70s. I have photos of the visit, too. We are planning a special Slate family reunion celebration in April to honor my grandfather's five children: Frederick, Barbara (my mother), Edmund, Thomas, and Christina--to record as much family history as possible. I'm also working with my cousin Stephen Slate on the family tree, including our line to Mayflower, which I'm almost certain exists. Any info you can send we would so appreciate! I'm happy to pass along other information for you. Eileen Kenney

Hello Slate Family Member, My Grandmother is a Slate, whose Father Zachariah Slate was born in Quaker Gap,Stokes, NC. between the years 1863-1874. Zachariah's Father Joseph S. Slate, was born Dec. 15, 1840 in New Kent Virginia. Perhaps George is a sibling of Joseph. Please let me know anything you find. My Grandmother is still living, her maiden name is Nancy Josephine Slate, she was the only girl and last child of ten, born to Zachariah Slate and Lelah Lawrence Binkley. She lives in Clarksville, TN and is 88 years young, as a matter of fact, I just tried to call her, and think she may be fishing today!! I hope to hear from you soon, Tiffany Greene

I searched 'Samuel Slate 1773' on yahoo and investigated the leads. For Mary Whitfield b.1736, Virginia d.1817, Pitsylvania, VA. With that information, One World Tree found a line for her (5+ generations). Father William Whitfield b.1695 d.1792. Mother Mary E. Goodman b.1695 d.1773. Hope that helps. If I am wrong by my findings, please let me know. I have only been doing this research for a month. Still learning, but having fun.

Slate family in OK, AR, or MO?

Looking for the husband of Cora Blanche(Mansfield)Slate. Cora Blanche Slate is shown on the 1910 census in Bowman, Roger Mills Co, Oklahoma with a son, George E (born abt 1906). She is listed as being married at the time (since about 1906), however her husband is not listed. Her husband was born in Arkansas (est 1866-1887). Cora (also goes by Blanche) was remarried by 1914. Her son, George, is not found after 1910. This family has ties to Oklahoma, Missouri,Arkansas and eventually Washington. Any information would be appreciated!

Slate family, Stokes Co NC

Seeking contact with researchers of the Slate family of Stokes Co NC. I am researching William George Slate, known as George, b. between 1833-1844, either in VA or NC. [CSA Pension records states that he was born in 1833 in Danville, VA, but census records 1844 in NC, probably Stokes Co NC]. He appears to have been a son of a Samuel Slate who resided in Stokes Co NC in 1860. Can anyone give me any more background information on this family?

Sam West
Lumberton, Robeson Co NC

sam.west.1@gmail.com
