in the 1880 Lower Creek, Burke, North Carolina census?
If I knew more about that Sloan family maybe I could figure it out.

In looking around I see that perhaps the Poly [Polly] Kincaid in that 1880 NC census was the sister, Mary Polly Kincaid b: 1813, to Nancy Rachel Kincaid-Sloan b: 6 Jun 1826 in Burke, North Carolina, USA.
Their parents:
Father: John Kincaid b: 6 Oct 1792 in Lincoln, NC
Mother: Elizabeth Betsy Moody b: 6 Sep 1788

I realize this is an old post. My daughter came across it. I too am a descendant. Have you found what you were looking for? I have some info. Research done at the Quaco Historical Society in Saint Martins, NB. Poems published at the time of the wreck. Copies of newspaper clippings. Capt Sloan is buried at Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John,NB in the sea Marine Lot, although there is no gravestone. Vandalised and removed years back.

RICHARD W. SLOAN
Richard Wesley Sloan, son of Lishe Perkins Sloan and Jessie Ada Dean Sloan, was born March 9, 1917, at Murray and died July 30, 2001, at the Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center from complications from diabetes. He was 84.
He spent his youth in Murray and attended the Murray school.
Mr. Sloan married Mable Irene Wolfe on May 5, 1940, at the Christian Church parsonage in Winterset. The couple had four children, Mary, JoAnn, Barbara and Donna. After their marriage they lived in Murray until 1942 when they moved to Des Moines. They moved to Osceola in 1948.
He was a truck driver for the E. I. Sargeant Quarries until he retired in 1979. After retirement he continued to operate his Sloan Sharpening Service until he retired from this business in March.
Mr. Sloan enjoyed anything with wheels on it. He enjoyed being home with his family, playing cards and making a drive around town. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Osceola.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Barbara Jean in 1975; brother-in-law, Bart Funkhouser; sister, Mary Funkhouser; brother-in-law, Leo Wolfe and sister-in-law, Marie Craig.
Mr. Sloan is survived by his wife, Mabel Sloan of Osceola; three daughters, Mary Schwartz and her husband, Lou Schwartz, of Kansas City, Mo., JoAnn Stubbar and her husband, Larry Stubbar, of Marion, Donna Sloan of Osceola; three grandchildren, Jeff Schwartz of Kansas City, Linda Klein and her husband, Steve Klein, of Marion, Brian West and companion, Josie Johnston, of Des Moines; four great-grandchildren, Brandina Klein of Marion, Brittany West, Patricia Johnston, Dominique Johnston, all of Des Moines; five stepgrandchildren, Darla, Cindy, Eleanor, Jeff and Sue; three nieces, Rita Doyle and her husband, Mike Doyle, Connie Preston and her husband, Stan Preston, Sandra Bisbee and her husband, Tom Bisbee, and their families as well as other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at Kale Funeral Home Aug. 1 with the Rev. Phil Coe officiating. Music was provided by organist Loretta Carper who accompanied Emil Rinderspacher who sang The Old Rugged Cross and In The Garden. Interment of cremains was in the Murray Cemetery.

how old would he be now? I would say between 79-82 I dont know if he is alive or not. He was in the army. Since I dont have any info on him I dont know if he had a nickname or not. This is my dilema him and my mom got divorced in 1952 a year after I was born he was still in the army at the time in fact from what my mom said he wanted to travel trying to get performers for I guess uso shows so he got a divorce,that is in Marshall county Indiana register.

Looking for any info on my father Charles Freeman Sloan,the only thing I know for sure is he was in the army in the 50's I was born in 51 in Fort Hood,Texas where he was stationed I also know he somehow was in the media getting acts to perform for the troops,my mothers name is Eleanor Showalter at that time when they got married they got a divorce in 52 or 53 in Indiana where she says his parents lived

ok I have found quite a bit of info now on my dad he served time not only in the army but in the navy as well(uso kind of thing) now I am trying to find one last link to everything. He was married to a Lucille,
time frame would be somewhere between 1953-1960 they had a child who would be my sister her name is Mary Ann Sloan
From what I have found out her location would be in Pa I have two cites or towns she might be in I might not spell it right ---- Passdie and Saddlebrook

i am the great great grand daughter to Patrick Sloan and josephine Routhier, and great grand daughter to James Sloan 1856 - 1940 and Ann Fox 1859 - 1935 they where married in 1879. my grand parents was Ernest sloan and Eva Kealey, my mother is Myrtle Sloan and she married my father Roland Chabot and they had me Katherine Chabot and I married Michel Gervais.

Iam redoing our family tree and any help would be greatly appreciated.
