The petition of Frederick Murphy intermarried with Motelena
Smaltz one of the heirs of Nicholas Smaltz late of Rush township deceased
Was prefered to the Court Humbly Shewing that the said Nicholas Smaltz lately
died intestate leaving issue? four children, to wit Mary intermarried with
Christopher Corson, Motelena wife of the petitioner - Fanny intermarried
with Moses M. Murphy & Nancy Smaltz that the said intestate died
seised? in his demesia? as of? fee? of and in a certain tract of land situate in the
township of Rush and county aforesaid Containing about one hundred acres
adjoining lands of Jacob Reed, Casper Reed Roger Wolverton & Maybury
Ke?in with the appurtanances, The Petitioner therefore prays the Court to award
an inquest to make partition of the premises aforesaid to and among the children
and representative of the said intestate, in such manner and in such proportion
as the Law of this Commonwealth is directed if such partitions can be made
without prejudices to or spoiling the whole, but, if such partition cannot be made
thereof, then to value and appraise the same and make report of their
proceedings scir?ein according to Law. Wherefrom January 19th 1830 Petition read
and inquest awarded.

Court records show Nicholas SMALTZ, from Shamokin Township, purchased property in 1803 from William Brady in Rush Township, Northumberland County, PA. He died before 1831 leaving four daughters: Mary, married to Christopher Corson; Magdalena, married to Frederick MURPHY; Frances (recorded as Fanny) married to Moses M. MURPHY; and Nancy.

If you are talking about Julius Louis Schmaltz, b. 6/9/1876 and d. 8/12/1945, had children Jack Julius, Frank John, Anna Marie, and Florence Elizabeth, then we are related!
My grandfather was Frank Schmaltz who married Genevieve Krombach, and had my mother Susan Marie.

I am searching for information on Alex J. Smaltz. He was born in Luzerne, PA to Frederick J. Schmaltz and Mary. He worked until 20's in Luzerne as a Coal Miner. I find him Miami, AZ in in 20's and 30's as a Miner. He married Jessie Bowen about 1925 in Arizona and adopted a child - Charlie Smaltz.

I know he moved to Pitsburg, Kansas in the 30's and died there in 1944.

Yes, indeed I have some information. Karl (Charles) Smaltz, ant Louisa were brother and sister and children of Christian (Christopher) Schmalz b. 1800 in Schwann, Germany, the son of Christian Schmalz b. 1766 in Schwann. I will email you a file. I would be interested in information about Louisa. Were their spouses related - each married a Shoeman?

My great-great grandmother, Louisa (Smaltz) Shoeman, of Blair County Pennsylvania, was a brother to Karl August (Charles) Smaltz. I am researching the Shoeman/Smaltz family and would be very interested in your newspaper clippings and writings from the family if you would like to share.

Smaltz, Robert H.

Robert H. Smaltz, 74, died September 24, 2007. He was born in Pontiac, Michigan. During recent years, Robert had suffered from failing health and at the time of death, was residing with relatives in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Robert retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service as a Sergeant. During his military career, he was stationed in England, Viet Nam, Japan, Korea and Norton AFB in San Bernardino. He was also a retired Security Officer for Sunskist Products of Ontario. Robert was an avid reader and had a love for all types of books. His interests covered a wide variety of subjects from World Religions to gardening, physical excerise and camping. Robert's knowledge was remarkably broad and he was conversant on nearly any subject. Robert was preceded in death by hiw wife, Ann Smaltz and daughter, Janet Smaltz. He is survived by daughters, Brenda Suberman of San Bernardino, Carolyn Escamilla of Redlands, Sandra Gordon of Ridgecrest; stepsons, Ralph Blair of Forest Grove, Oregon and Jack Blair of Claremont. Robert is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Graveside Service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, October 19th at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario. United States Air Force Honor Guard will be in attendance.

Information about Willmina Smaltz, born Nov. 19, 1880 in Clinton, IN. Parents may have been William Smaltz and Mary Nolan. Adopted-informally?-by Lucy and Henry Bullock of Clay CO,IN about 1887. To Kansas in 1892. Other names of family members - Elmore and Oswald. She thought she had two older sisters, one may have been named Alice.

Thank you for the reply. As you can see it's been four years since I posted the inquiry and can't locate all my Smaltz info right away. Was William Blair Smaltz a grandson of Charles Augustus Smaltz. If so I have a couple pictures of Charles. I forwarded your reply to my sister, who is our unofficial family historian, who has quite a bit of info on Charles. Charles Smatz, b. Allen County, Indiana c. 1880's, son of Paul and Olive Welsheimer Smaltz, settled in Chicago, Ill in the 1920's and had a family. Any information would be helpful. He is my great-grandfather, married first to Aileen Christy and lived in Roanoke, Indiana, had two children: Harold and Mildred. Charles died in 1971.

I hope you still check this web page. I just happened to wander on to it and found your posts. I am originally from Roaring Spring and my father was Jack Bowers, his mother was Martha Smaltz, her dad was David Smaltz and his father was Charles Augustus Smaltz. I have one or two pictures of him I could email and we could compare records. I have his military records which you can obtain a copy of by going to the National Archives webpage.

My grandfather was Juilus Smaltz from Germany, marrieed Anna Tyz, Julius was born in 1776 died in Minneapolis 1945,
my dad Jack said that his dad changed his name from Schmaltz,to Smaltz so my dad change his name back to Schmaltz, can't get any farther back, I need help
