The writeup in the newspaper said:
"Smethers is survived by his wife and three children — Vera, James and Arthur; three brothers — Clarence, of Decatur, I11.; Arthur, of California, and Lawrence, of Fort Wayne; three sisters — Mrs. George Brassard and Mrs. Julia Deplter. of this city, and Mrs. Harry Walker, of Arcola."
Julia Deptler must be the one that later married Wesley Kimes
