Edward J. MIZGERD, 79, of 1320 Lincoln Ave., North Catasauqua, died Tuesday in his home. He was the husband of Mary (SMICKER) MIZGERD. They were married 53 years last September.

He was a maintenance man at Muhlenberg Medical Center, Bethlehem, for 10 years, retiring in 1976. Before that, he was a bottler at the former Tru-Blue Brewery, Northampton, and the former Old Dutch Brewery, Catasauqua, for 30 years.

Born in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Felix and Mary (SZYZDEK) MIZGERD.

He was a member of St. Michael's Polish Catholic Church, Northampton.

Survivors: Wife; son, Edward W. of Allentown; sister, Mrs. Helen KOZERO of Weaversville; brothers, Joseph of Allentown, Anthony of Takoma Park, Md., and Frank of North Catasauqua; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, John T., in 1988.

Services: 9:30 a.m. Friday, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 4th and Chestnut streets, Coplay; Mass at 10 a.m. in the church. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday.
