Emma A. SMICKER, 93, formerly of Allentown, PA, and recently of Erie, PA, died peacefully on Friday evening, October 19, 2007, at the Twinbrook Nursing Home. She was born in Allentown, PA, on February 23, 1914, a daughter of the late John and Julia HEISSAM DRAUCH.
Emma worked in all phases of the textile industry for over 52 years and was a partner in the Bath Textile Co. in Bath, PA. She was instrumental in designing and the manufacturing of garments that were subsequently patented. Emma possessed many God given talents and loved to draw, paint, write poetry, knit and crochet; she also entertained playing the harmonica and a button accordion. She taught arts and crafts at the Allentown Boys Club and was a past secretary treasurer of Our Lady Help of Christians Altar Society. Her greatest joy was her family, she will always be a shining example to her family for her strong faith in God, love, indomitable spirit, courage, creative nature and support.
She is survived by one son, Stephen W. SMICKER and his wife Donna, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
A gathering will be held on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Bartlett Road, Harborcreek, PA, with Msgr. Gerald Ritchie and Msgr. James Sperry, co-celebrants. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Allentown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Rd., Erie, PA.
