Dolores (WASCO) VLK, age 84, of Allentown, PA, died on Friday, September 1, 2006 in Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke’s in Bethlehem, PA. She was the wife of the late Michael Francis VLK, who served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific and was deceased in 1994. She was also the daughter of the late George and Anna (LIPOVSKY) WASCO.

Dolores VLK worked at the former Western Electric plant from 1955-1981 and retired after 26 years of service as a Process Checker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church, Allentown, PA.

Dolores VLK is survived by three children, Margaret "Peggy" SMICKER of Allentown, PA, wife of the late John SMICKER, Jr.; Michael VELK of Emmaus, PA, husband of Barbara (SEIER) VELK; and Cathryn HEISLER of Whitehall, PA, wife of Barry HEISLER. She has eight grandchildren -- Cindy SMICKER & Bonnie (SMICKER) KERSHNER; Karen (VELK ) Higgins & Michael VELK; James LUNGER & Patrick LUNGER; Christopher VLK & Ryan VLK; four great-grandchildren -- Hunter VELK, Hayden VELK, Christopher HIGGINS and Jessica HIGGINS; one sister, Gloria SCHIAVONE, wife of Arnold SCHIAVONE, of Allentown.

Dolores VLK was also predecesed by a son, Daniel VLK of Palatka, FL.

A calling hour will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, at Kohut Funeral Home, 950 N. Front St., Allentown, with a ser-vice at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 924 N. Front St., Allentown. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Allentown. Rev. Msgr. Robert F. Kozel, Pastor of St. John the Baptist Church, will officiate the services for John.

The family of Dolores Vlk requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Dolores, Hospice of the VNA of St. Luke’s and/or St. John the Baptist Church, both c/o the funeral home, 18102-1912.
