MEMORIAL FOR LIEUT. JERRY SMID from Omaha

Memorial for Lieut. Smid
Omaha Memorial requiem high Mass was sung at St. Bernard's church, Monday for Lieut. Jerry Smid of the paratroops who was killed in action in Germany, March 24, the War Department Tuesday notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry J. Smid, 2740 N 64th Street.
A graduate of Benson high school and former student at Creighton university, Lieut. Smid, entered the Army June 1, 1943 from Creighton, whee he was advanced in ROTC.
A memorial Mass was also said for Lieut. Smid in St. John's church Friday morning.
Besides his parents, Lieutenant Smid is survived by a sister, Mrs. R. M. Byrnes, and a brother, Pfc. Arthur, an Army medical student at Creighton.
