Hi, Looking for info on my great grandparents Joseph and Frances Smid (Sporcel/Sporcel/Stajskal). They married in Chicago, Il in 1895. Both were widowers with children. Talk about blended families...her, mines and ours totaled over 11 children. My grandmother Ella Smid was the baby of the family.

In the 1910 Federal Census (under Smith not Smid) they list their nationality as German Bohemians. He is listed as immigrating in 1884. Joseph was born circa 1862 and was a carpenter while Frances ran a storefront grocery store on Grand Ave. in Chicago. My mother (Alice Penkava Roundy) lived and played there often as child.

I am interested in finding more info on his or her immigration and where he/she may have immigrated from in Bohemia (circa 1884). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can be contacted at shardog1@att.net
Thanks,
Sharon Roundy
