James,
I am searching for information on my grandfather: John Anderson Smith. Do you think there could be a connection? On John's death certificate his father is listed as James Smith and his mother as not known. My grandmother filled out the form and I find it unusual that she would not know the name of her mother-in-law. She never talked of my grandfather or his family to her six children after he died. They were all very young. She did write in a post card to my uncle that my grandfather was born in Goose Creek, Texas. The permission to marry note for my great Aunt was signed by a Yancy H. Smith. John Anderson Smith had 2 sisters named Nettie, married a George Badgett in Harris County, Texas and Mrs. Robert Carroll. My mother was born in Batson, Texas. We traveled to Batson in 1978 and located a huge Smith cemetery. This did not help, and there were few people in the area that could help us. I have looked in census records and found my grandfather and grandmother but nothing before them. If you run across any information about these Smiths I would really appreciate the information.
