I am hoping someone can help me find information on my grandmothers family. All the census records and other areas I look into do not show her or any of her siblings names that I an familar with. Her name was Nellie Elizabeth Smoot Tidwell. She was born in Madison County, Al on Oct.3,1908. She passed away Mar.1,1988 in Huntsville. Her father left home when her and her siblings were kids and I never knew his name or her mothers. Her mother was Cherokee, though for many years she nor her sisters would admit to it. She had a brother that was killed in the first World War. Don't know his name. Another brother named Ed that moved to California, and another brother named Wyatt that I don't know anything about. Two sisters, Beulah and Naomi. Both of them married and stayed around Huntsville. I think Naomi's husband was Buck Parsons or Pardon. From what I've been told they probably have younger half brothers and or sisters. My grandmother never wanted to talk much about her family, but she did admit to me a year or so before she passed that her mother was full blooded Cherokee.
If anyone has some information on any of these Smoots or knows where I might be able to find some, please let me know it will be greatly appreciated.
