John SNAITH (b. ca 1698) and Margaret WALL (b. 1705 at Stanhope as the daughter of Ralph WALL and Margaret EMERSON) were married at Wolsingham 25 May 1727. Between 1728 and 1750 they had 9 children all born at Wolsingham. Only 5 of the 9 children survived infancy. They were:
Child 1. John SNAITH b. 1730: He was a banker and arrived in London where he married Jane GRIFFIN in 1755. They had 9 children born between 1756 and 1770: Westgarth - Margaret - John - Robert - Jane - Ann - Francis - and Phyllis.
Child 2. Elizabeth SNAITH married Joseph WATSON in 1756 at Wolsingham. They had issue 5 children born at Wolsingham between 1757 and 1769: Mary - Joseph - Elizabeth - John and Jane.
Child 3. Thomas SNAITH - He too went to London and became a banker in the firm of SIKES, SNAITH AND SNAITH. He died in 1796 at St. Mary Lamburth, Surrey, England. So far I have not found family for him.
Child 4. Margaret SNAITH - She married Joseph WOOLER in 1771 at Wolsigham. They had 9 children born at Wolsingham between 1773 and 1787.
Child 5. Henry SNAITH - He too went to London but did not enter the banking field. He was a habberdasher together with David Jones. Their shop was located at 5, Friday Street in London. So far, I have not found family for him.
Is anyone else researching SNAITH in the Wolsingham and London areas? I'd love to compare notes with you if you are.
