Mr. Burgner thank you so much for the info on the Burgner family. I see two more possible connections to your family.
Elizabeth's husband William Wilhoit & Winfield's wife Barbara A. Broyles. I'm sure they are decendants of my germanna germans who settled in Orange Co Va. Germanna has a great web site. You can find out all kinds of info on the Broyles & Wilhoits there. Any idea who there parents were? Thanks again,
Ollie

Mr. Burgner, thank you so much for the great info on the Snapp family. I was very interested to see a Broyles & a Painter among this family as those two names are associated with the germanna germans who settled in Orange Co Va in the early 1700's. Any idea who the parents & siblings of Daniel were? Again thanks so much for all the info.
Ollie

Casey Ellison that I speak of is the wife of James Ellison , and the mother of Henson Ellsberry "Berry" Ellison who was Agusta Rosa Snapp' first husband , He was elected Sheriff of taney Co. in 1860 and was killed 1861 in Taney co. This Hester was born 1807 in Roane Co., TN., and died 1881 in Taney Co., MO. James Ellison was born 1806 Roane Co., TN. and died 1875 Taney Co., MO.Berry the husband of Rosa was born 1831 in Roane Co.,TN. and died in Taney Co.MO. 1861. I think Rosa is the correct way her name was spelled but it could be interchanged with Rose also. There is another Rose Snapp who married a Bates. but Augusta was the first daughter of Harrison "Hack" Snapp. Which family are you researching Snapp or Ellison? You can write to me at Aol also if you want.
Bonnie in California

Re: Snapp Family of Nicholas Co. KY

George Snapp was living in New Hanover, Montgomery County, PA by 1752 where several of his children were baptised in the New Hanover Lutheran Church between 1752 and 1766.
In 1767 George Snapp was living in western Frederick County, Virginia where he had surveyed 415 acres. George then moved again about 1775 to western Pennsylvania (probably Washington County) where Peter, one of his sons served in the Militia during the revolution. Adam, your Ephriam's father supposedly accompanyed him to western PA. Adam was born 1764 and died about 1828. Around the mid to late 1780's George moved with son Peter and others to Nicholas County, Kentucky where he died in 1807. Adam married Regina Boehm 1 Dec 1795 in Shenandoah County, VA and died there in 1828. Whether he went to Western PA and then back to Virginia when his family left there or never went is not clear. He was in Shenandoah County, VA in 1787.
There is an excellent account of the early Snapp family in the book "From the Rhine to the Shenandoah" by Daniel Bly 1993. I have a copy of this book.
I would be very happy to share any information I have and would be also interested in your branch of the family.
Teri, I just came across this reply while looking for more information; I don't know if I answered you or not. If not, you are correct in the marriage of Samuel and Susan; in her obituary, it states that Samuel died about 12 years previous to her and John about 25. She died in 1922 or 1927, I'll have to check. This is obviously wrong dates as she is listed as a widow in the 1880 census. I guess her baby died as there is nothing ever mentioned of him after the 1880 census. Her Mother is buried at Rose Hill in Nicholas County, and she is supposed to be buried next to her, but there is no marker. I spoke with the caretaker and he said that is where she is buried. If I can be help to you, please let me know.

Mary

Teri, do you have any information on a John Snapp who was married to Susan Fryman out of Nicholas County? They had a son in 1878 or 79 and she is listed as a widow in the 1880 census. I am trying to find some information on Susan, she later married Samuel Maybrier and her sister, Letha married Frances Maybrier. I am trying to find information on all of these people. Any help would be appreciated and if I can help you, I would be glad to.

Mary

William A. and Priscilla (Price) Snapp - Looking for infor.

William A. Snapp and wife Priscilla (Price) Snapp are my great-great-great-grandparents. They were born in Virginia circa 1804 and 1808, near as we can tell. We can trace our family history directly to them through their son Elkanah (Elcaney, Elcanah), then Elihue Kizer and then John Flemon Snapp (my grandfather).

He was known as Grandpa Billy and she as grandma Prissy. They moved to Eastern Tennessee sometime during or after the Civil War.

I would greatly appreciate any information anyone might have, however incidental it might be. Our family has run into a complete dead end at them.

Thank you.

Marvin Snapp

Feel free
>to use the picture for your personal records.
>
>This is one of the 160,227 cemetery photos free at >http://teafor2.com

Hello LanePrairie:

I think you forgot to attach the photo to your message board. (GRIN) At least there was nothing to click in your post to see the picture. Anyway, I went to the URL you posted and finally found the photo.

Thanks for the Photo,
George W. Durman
(P.S. My interest in SNAPP is that several of that family married into my Germanna BROYLES family in East Tennessee, mainly Sullivan and Washington Counties.)

I think what was confusing me was that someone (you?) had referred to this Hester as Hester Ellison, which I see now was her married name.

I know it's a hard habit to break, but in genealogy women should be referred to with their maiden name only.

I'm researching SNAPP and PEMBERTON, but ran into the ELLISON family and just wanted a little information on it. The SNAPPs married into my BROYLES, WILHOIT, and other Germanna families in Washington and Greene Counties, TN.

Thanks a bunch for the info. I'm always glad to get some new people to add to peripheral lines, especially with the nicknames.

George
