Geography lesson, Edwinsboro, Nottinghamshire, England
First of All, a BIG thank you to "John" for providing me with more information than I ever dreamed existed on my roots. I now know that I am a descendant of Joseph Snowden, et al.
I am looking to find where exactly Edwinsboro, Nottinghamshire, England is. I can't find it anywhere on a map or on the web. It appears that my line of Snowdens emigrated from there sometime in the mid 1600's or so, and that the village subsequently disappeared.
Also, I would like to volunteer the information I have from our family archives on my great-grandfather, David Harold Snowden (1841-1905) for research. I have photos, civil war records, pension papers, ordainment papers for the ministry, his army commission papers, etc, etc. These records show , among other things, that he served as a medical doctor at some point in the civil war and afterwards in Sterling, Kansas, where he is buried.
I am hoping that this information can assist others of Joseph Snowden descendants update their records on where this line of Snowdens ended up.
What a great help RootsWeb.com has proven to be. Particularly, the annonymous author (so far) John.
Thank you.
David Snowden
(1943- ? ) Newport Beach, California
P.S. If anyone knows where I can obtain a copy of the book: The Descendants of Joseph Snowden (1725/30-1799) by Virginia Whitman Snowden, I would appreciate receiving the information.
