Surnames: SNOWDON, BUTLER, CORNWELL, MACKENZIE
My grandmother had a half brother DOUGLAS MACKENZIE born in South Africa 6 June1889 to her widowed father and his new wife ANNIE MAUD CORNELL nee BUTLER.
In 1915 he wrote home to ask about his father's line as he had died when he was a year old in 1890 but now he was with the Standard Bank at WOODSTOCK and had good prospects he was engagaed to a Miss SNOWDON whose father Dr SNOWDON'S people had come from ALNWICK.They were married that year.
His fiancee Miss SNOWDON had been in Germany when war broke out and "only through payment of a large some of money was she able to procure a train ticket out of the country".
Douglas MACKENZIE died aged 63 in 1953 having reached the height of his career with the Standard Bank at DURBAN and had at least 4 children but I can trace none of them without the mother's name.
Any SNOWDON family recognise these folk ?
