The marriage certificate indicates that Louisa was a minor at the time and John was of full age. No actual ages are provided.

John Gordon Huntley was a Master or Commander in the Royal Navy. Louisa's father, Thomas Soden was a surgeon in the Royal Navy.

According to the 1851 Census, Louisa's brother Thomas Soden was a 'Surgeon App'

At the time of the 1851 Census the Soden family were residing in Deal, Kent and according to the Census all the children, as well as Thomas' wife, Elizabeth Soden, were born in Dover, Kent.

A Martha and Harriett Soden are also included in this family's 1851 Census.
