Hi Dylan,

If you are related to Brian Sodt, then you are also related to me. Brian is the one who shared his Sodt genealogy info with me over 10 years ago when I was first starting my research. Please email me at dtegtmeier51@gmail.com so we can chat more easily and privately.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Debbie Tegtmeier

I've been told by native germans that the name Sodt is derived from the german word Stadt (st-a-t) which means City.

Hello, if you happen to still be out there.

My name is Dylan Sodt, I am 19 years old and have found a vast interest in discovering more of my family's heritage.
I live with my mother (Connie Sodt) and older brother (Drew Sodt.) My father (Tim Sodt) died four years ago. My g-mas name is Dona Sodt and lived with the rest of us in Jackson, MI until about 4 years ago when she moved to Atlanta.

We also have relatives in town who own the Sodt Berry farm http://arborwiki.org/index.php/Sodt's_Berry_Farm (Though I have not met them personally) and a Brian Sodt whom lives in Florida.

I am glad to provide any more info that may help and to in return obtain any possible of our family's german history. I find myself extremely proud to be of german decent and plan to one day return.

I also found this:
http://sodt.net/
SODT in Ohio

There are unclaimed funds for John Sodt and Lucille Sodt that I found on the Ohio Unclaimed Funds website:

http://www.unclaimedfundstreasurehunt.ohio.gov/

I came across the listings while doing research on my Sodt ancestor. If anyone knows the whereabouts of or the heirs of John and/or Lucille, please direct them to the above website. I found Lucille on the SSDI but not John.

Sodtman origin

I too am struggling to find out more -- although I am looking for SODTMAN, I'm sure they are variations on the same. My SODTMAN line goes back to Frederick Sodtman, who emigrated between 1858 and 1866. Finding them in census records has been difficult, as the name appears as anything *but* Sodtman, but I am slowly making headway.

Anyway, my Frederick came from Prussia. Will post back when I know more.
