I know the Soens family from L'Pool very well.

There was 3 brothers, Eddie, Tom and Jim. They were all into cycling. Eddie was the Vince Lombardi of cycling though.
He developed and nutured many great racers.

Eddie married a lady named Mima. There is still one son "Billy" remaining who resides in Ormskirk Merseyside.

Hello, I'm not sure if we've corresponded in the past or not (definitely possible). My maiden name is SOENS. Here is my direct SOENS lineage as far back as I know it:

Franciscus SOENS died 1/16/1793, Hulste, Belgium. He was married to Elisabeth VERBEKE, who died 4/20/1796 in Hulste. They had a son, Guillielmus SOENS. I do not know whether they had other children.

Guillielmus SOENS died 10/27/1830 in Kortrijk, West Flanders, Belgium. His wife, Maria Josepha VERSCHOORE, died 6/6/1831 in Kortrijk. They had at least two children, Petrus Franciscus SOENS (see below) and Ida Coleta SOENENS, born 3/11/1810 in Kortrijk, died 1/7/1852 in Heule. He married Amelia DEMAZURE (b. 2/6/1814 in Lendelede, d. 8/19/1871 in Heule) on 4/27/1838 in Heule. They had at least 8 children:
* Maria Ludovica SOENS, b. 2/19/1839 in Heule, d. 6/22/1855 in Heule.
* Barbara Theresa SOENS, b. 12/7/1840 in Heule, d. 1/28/1871 in Heule. Married Emile Alphonsus DEWEVER 5/2/1860 in Brugge. (He later also married her sister Victoria Sophia SOENS.)
* Carolus Ludovicus SOENS (see below)
* Adolphus Soens, b. 12/18/1844 in Heule, d. 3/5/1845 in Heule.
* Emilius Adolphus SOENS, b. 11/12/1846 in Heule.
* Maria Philomena SOENS, b. 11/21/1848 in Heule, d. 4/23/1863 in Heule.
* Leopoldus SOENS, b. 1/21/1852 in Heule.
* Victoria Sophia SOENS, b. 1/4/1854 in Heule. On 8/22/1871, she married Emile Alphonsus DEWEVER (widowed husband of her sister Barbara Theresa SOENS who died about 7 months prior).

Carolus Ludovicus SOENS was born 11/30/1842 in Heule and died 10/26/1870 in Heule. On 10/26/1870 in Heule, he married Ludovica DEWAELE, b. 5/6/1846 in Heule, d. 3/28/1936 in Blankenberge. They had 5 known children:
* Elodie Sidonie SOENS was born 4/20/1872 in Heule and died 1/7/1964 in Blankenberge. On 1/31/1894 in Heule, she married Josephus Aloysius CLAERBOUT (b. 3/19/1866 in Kuurne, d. 6/9/1936 in Blankenberge).
* Camiel Cyriel Joseph SOENS, b. 8/20/1874 in Heule.
* Leopold SOENS, b. 9/9/1875 in Heule, d. 8/9/1932 in Kortrijk. Three died in infancy. The other 3 are all living. Mary Louise and Odiel Joseph divorced about 1948-1949. Odiel Joseph married twice more, with no children from his subsequent marriages.

If there appears to be a link between our families, please contact me.

Warm regards for a healthy, happy 2007!
Sue Allen (nee Soens)

Believe name is originally Flemish or even Old Saxon. earliest recorded in England is a Norman Knight Sir William Sones (alternative spelling along with Soans) dated c1300. Name probably meant son of a son. Regards. Bill

I am looking for a connection with the family of Anthony J Soens who was born in Illinois about 1873, married Mary (Mamie A.) Potts in 1897 and had a daughter Mary Lois who was born about 1899 in Cook County, IL. Mary Lois married Clarence Cunningham in 1919 in Denver, Colorado. I believe Mary died before 1930 as Clarence's wife in the 1930 census is named Oma. I'd like to make contact with anyone having knowledge of Mary Soens Cunningham. Thanks.
