Your message was written over two years ago, but I will take a chance and respond anyway. My father and his family came from Kienberg, Switzerland. My grandfather is Theophil Hurbi. My great grandfather is Martin Hurbi. Martin's wife was a Soland. I always thought her name was Sophia Soland, but when I visited Kienberg, I was told that her name was Theresia Soland. The date I have for their wedding is May 12, 1878. If you have any information about the Soland Family Tree in Kienberg, Switzerland, I would be very much interested.

That is all very interesting. I always thought that the name "soland" exits only in Switzerland.I live in Switzerland and my family came from Kienberg. So, perhaps I have relatives in the USA! Funny.

I am interested in your post. My great grandmother was Sophia Soland from Kienberg, Switzerland. I don't have her birthdate but she was married to Martin Hurbi my g grandfather and namesake. My grandfather was born in 1882 in Kienberg so his mother (Sophia) could be related to the Solands you write of that left Switzerland in the 1850's.

Do you have any information of the Solands in Switzerland about that time?

bob, I saw that you had info on solands. I am looking for info on my great-great grandfather Andrew Soland. He came to northern minnesota from norway @1900. He married Clara trosdahl, and eight children. One of his daughters is Emelia Ruby Soland Eggum. We know next to nothing of his family in Norway. He was the last Solad from his family to come to the U.S., I do know that there was one brother left in norway. And that two siblings came over before him. Thank you, Tyrrelle Stuntz

I have some information on the Soland family from New Orleans. I just returned from Salt Lake City, and with the Holidays I am not sure where my things are. I will be glad to share with you what I have. My grandfather was Philip John Soland, his father was Henry John Soland, and his father was Henry Soland who came to New Orleans before 1850, With him were , Mary, Samuel, Frederick, and some others. I have to find my census records to give you the correct numbers. Let me know if you want them.

We are doing a family search for any family that may still be living in Norway. The last names are Eggum or Soland. The last Soland that came from Norway was Andrew Soland. Hi Bridgett, What would you like to know? I have a book about Soland and the families that lived there back to 1500. My GG-grandmother was born there. I was just there in June. You are right it is in Norway, just north, about 5mi. of Flekkefjord along the southern coast of Norway. It is very small so it won't show up on any maps. If you can give me some names I can maybe find some ancestors for you.
