My ancestor was Henry Soliday who settled in Huntingdon Co, Pa in 1796. He had a son Jacob, any connection.

Hi. I am Linda Soliday 41, Buffalo, NY. My daddy was Ralph Hazlett Soliday born 1913. His Brothers were John, Lawrence and a sister Violet all older than he was. I know there's a connection but I don't know what. Daddy and his siblings lived in PA and I think it was Connalsville. Daddy's 2 sons Chuck and Barry live there still and are older than I am. They know more I am sure. Do you know my daddy's father's name by any chance? I know nothing about him. I also didn't know Soliday was German I thought it was French. Is it German?

I know this several years behind but I am a relation of the Solidays from Big Run, Punxsy area. My grandfather was James E. Soliday whose grandparents were Hannah and Henry. I am trying to find past names or dates to use with my Family Tree Maker software to complete his side of the tree. Am trying to locate an old friend from New Castle, Indiana. Deena Soliday lived there at least two years ago and I'm pretty sure she still does. I'am 14 years old My dad is Paul Micheal Soliday and my Grandpa is Jack Soliday, and my Great Grandpa is Lawrence Soliday, great great is Harry Soliday, great great great is Mike Soliday which he built our farm in 1883 in Thurston Ohio and the wooden barns are still up and in use, and still farmed by Soliday's. I have a Hannah Martha Strouse was b. 12 Jun 1865, m. 25 Apr 1885 to Uriah Fetter Solliday b 07 May 1863, d 19 Jan 1943. However they are in Bucks Cty, not Blair. The line of Henry Solliday b. 1765 is pretty well known and documented in a book by Tom Mayers. Email me for details. Hi Michelle. I have four Henry Solidays on my list. I don't have any married to a Hannah Straus. All but the first Henry are from Wayne County. I am sure there is a relationship but I don't know what it is.
What year was your Henry born?
Who were his kids? Could Hannah be a second wife?

I have not been able to obtain too much information on the Solidays before my Henry (my GGGGgrandfather). I got some nebulous information from the Wayne County library that the Solidays immigrated from Switzerland.

Glad that you responded to my query. I haven't had too many on the Solidays.

My maidan name was Soliday. My Great-Great Grandpa was Henry Soliday, he married Hannah Straus. They were from Huntingdon Co. I'm looking for the port of entry, if you can help? I checked the 1912 Soliday (and Wagner) family history document with no luck finding Julianna as a decendent of John Adam Soliday. The dates would have been right on for one of his six daughters. Possibly a niece of John Adam Soliday?

I'm grasping at straws here, but my great-great grandmother, Henrietta Louisa Soliday named her 4th child "Abe Soliday Case". I have been unable to find her ancestry and, looking at your name, wondered if there was a link. Henrietta married Aaron Bell Case on 13 Sept 1853 in Ohio. Can you help me?

I have a Mary Soliday in my family. She was born in Mahoning Pa. somewhere around 1878. She Married John Manning born somewhere around 1873. They moved to Armstrong county Pa. They had many children only two of which i know of Fred Manning and Olive Manning. Olive was born 1915. Olive had two sons John and James Manning. Soliday was from Washington County, 169th Infantry Regiment and the 43rd Infantry Division. He died March 6, 1945. I am a retired American residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We have been taking digital photos to unite ( free of charge) with families of the servicemen from Cental Indiana near our previous home. We have taken over 100 individual high quality photos of the graves. We pray you will help us in honoring them by helping find their families. We would also hope to find information concerning their military days, details of the location of their death, awards they received during their tour of duty and hopefully a digital scan of them in uniform we could place in our records with the information. Enclosed is a wide angle view of the cemetery and an individual shot of a grave marked unknown.

Soliday's - Fairfield Co., OH - 1800s

Looking for information on the Solidays who lived in Fairfield Co., OH in the late 1700s or early 1800s. Sn ancestor of mine, John Bacher/Bachar/Baugher, married a woman named Julianna, probably in Fairfield Co., OH. Sources have stated that her maiden name was
Salida or Soliday. She would have been born about 1795, md. abt 1813, and she died in 1858.

John Bachar and Julianna had the following children, all christened in Fairfield Co.: Susanna, Jacob, Solomon, Philip, George, John, Joseph and Maria Anna.

I did find one marriage record for John Bacher who married a Julia Salidee in 1856 in Franklin Co., OH, but the place and dates are wrong.

Any help appreciated.

We have found the following reference at the Indiana State Library website; World War II database. We do not have the information because we do not have access to the microfilms here in the Philippines but we are hoping for some help from our posting. Our goal is to find the families of Indiana servicemen and present them with free photographs of their loved one’s grave sites and names as they appear on the “Tablets”. This information will increase our chances of finding the families. Please help us!
