Death of Samuel H. Soloman, Mobile, Alabama 1904

Form the Mobile, Alabama Newspaper, May 29, 1904

Samuel H. Solomon, a well known and generally esteemed citizen, was stricken with paralysis yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, while seated at his desk in his office. He was moved to his home, No. 358 St. Francis street, and given every care, but he never recovered consciousness, and died at 11 o'clock last night." Born in London in 1841, Solomon had come to Providence, R.I., at age 13. Ten years later, he came to Mobile and became a grocer. Later, he was in the insurance and merchandise brokerage businesses. He was a mason and served as "secretary of the Jewish congregation." He had an active interest in the theater, having been a member of the "Histrionic Society," and taking roles in a number of plays. He was also "dramatic director of the old Fidelia Society that gave entertainments in Temperance Hall."

Not my line, just sharing.
I am looking for a Sally Soloman/Salmon who married a John Cuit Caviness. They supposedly met during the Revolutionary War when Sally brought rations to her father (name unknown). She is the same lady who supposedly slew some Nottoway Indians who had captured her and her infant child. John Cuit is from Halifax Co., Va. I just wondered if there is a connection and if Sally is known to anyone working on the Soloman geneaology.

Elwood, is in Madison County in Indiana. Anderson, Ind. also in Madison country is the county seat. I was born and raised in Elwood and I am related to the Sprongs. My Grandmother was Jewel Sprong > Father: Emory/> Mother: Ethel Robinson. I have just started my search, and have encountered many holes. Is the Soloman you speak of the son of David @ Lois Finny? Would you know anything about my great-grandpartents Emory&Ethel? My grandmother, Jewel had three cousins, Anna, John, & Albert, I cannot find who their parents were. As memory serves, these three were never married. Any information will be appreciated. Thank you Georgia Lee Russel, North Webster, Indiana
