I always thought there were not many solan's
until I chanced upon this website.
I know very little about the family; however,
I have been told that my grandmother was a
Solan from County Mayo who settled in Roxbury,
Massachusetts. She had at least one sister
who also emigrated named Delia and possibly
another named Mary. I think there was a
brother ?Martin who went to England.
In New Cavalry cemetery, I found the McManus
headstone. The names on the stone included:
Mary A McManus 1863-1931
James McManus 1874-1935
Mary Solan 1832-1912
M J Carroll 1911-1933
Has anyone come across these names/dates
in their research? I am very new at this
and am not sure what my next steps will be.
