Does any one have any information on the various spellings of the name and how they orginated. Most of my line in America spells it "Somervell" and I have found old Scottish records to that effect. I am descended from the brother of Thomas Taylor Somervell of Tipton County, Tennessee who made a claim to the Lordship in 1870 but wasn't able to afford pursuing it.
